Description

The decision that my twins would be born naturally was made. Maja was the first one. Then Antosia was supposed to be welcomed into the world. Minutes went past, but she was still not there. Nobody expected then that the trauma would begin in a moment and Tosia would start to die...

July 24, 2013 – both the most beautiful and terrible day in my life. Maja was born healthy, but Antosia got stuck in the birth canal, because just before the birth she turned around. It was too late for the caesarean section... Our daughter was choking. Tosia was born in a critical condition, doctors immediately began resuscitation...

Soon we heard the diagnosis: Baby Cerebral Palsy. Shock, despair, but the worst was still to come... Soon after, it turned out that Antosia was "not alone". What does it mean? Our daughter has a "friend" - we say that so that Tosia is not afraid. We do not want to know this "friend", we want her to leave, leave our life, home, never return and torture our child. Her name is epilepsy, the worst drug-resistant type...

t usually comes at night when the child is most vulnerable. It attacks during sleep, without any warning, silently. Each attack begins with jerks at her fingertips and then it proceeds like an avalanche - the whole hand, her leg, her head, her whole body. Each fit causes further fits, which we can’t interrupt in any way. After such an epileptic fit, which usually lasts for several hours, Tosia always ends up in hospital.

Despite the efforts of many doctors, steroids and countless attempts to change drugs, seizures do not go away, ... They have only been slightly reduced in severity. However, the strong drugs that Tosia takes cause damage to other organs - eyes, liver, heart ... What’s more, every epileptic fit diminishes the positive outcomes of long hours of rehabilitation. Epilepsy also causes terrible trauma. Tosia’s fear hospitals is indescribable. Countless injections and blood tests make Tosia cry whenever she hears an ambulance passing by...

Despite the fact that childhood with this illness is not easy, especially when Antosia sees differences between herself and her healthy twin sister, she smiles constantly. The girls support each other. Majka helps Tosia all the time, encourages her, supports her in this difficult battle. She worries when her sister has a seizure again. We call it a "trance". Tosia loses control over reality then, she does not know where she was or what happened. More and more often, she asks heart-rending questions that we do not know the answer to: "Mommy, why am I sick and Maja isn’t? Why do I have epilepsy?"...

Attacks during the day make it impossible for Tosia to play like other children. Although she often tries to catch up with others, it usually results in a failure... Many daily activities come to her with great difficulty, but Tosia doesn’t give up. She tries until she succeeds and then she's the happiest. And we hope that the next attack will not come and will not take it all away from her ...

We will be looking for help for our daughter until we can find it. We will not give up because we can’t break down - we are the parents. We need to give her hope, encourage her to continue her fight and hide our tears after each seizure...

Today there is a chance for our child - a chance to overcome the illness, restore a happy childhood and a normal life. It is an operational treatment. However, due to the excessive damage in the area of the brain caused by the stroke; specialized diagnostics and then surgery is possible only in the Schön Klinik in Munich. This is one of the best clinics in the world. More importantly, the doctors there are the only ones who decided to undertake a multi-day diagnosis, which will allow us to find the root-cause of the epilepsy and then remove it!
