Let's fight for Adam❗️

On November 17th 2021 our lives changed forever. Our beloved, healthy and full of life father suddenly suffered from cardiac arrest and a massive heart attack.

Our dad was always funny, loving and brought an energy and happiness to our family every day. He never said NO to anyone, he was always there to help and has a heart of gold.

Everything earlier in the day was as normal. Dad came back from work, rested after a long day, and talked with us as always as a family…
We would never in our lives think that after this day we would not hear his voice again or see him smile as he would always. Literally in that one second, our lives changed. My dad suddenly fell on the sofa, he turned blue. Everything happened so fast, so unreal. My sisters husband started resuscitation and after 15 minutes the paramedics arrived and took over and began to work and save my father's life. They had been struggling for over an hour to restore Dad's heart rate. We are so grateful that they managed to do so and dad showed us that he was fighting for his life too.

Unfortunately, there was a lack of oxygen in his brain and he was put into an induced coma for a month. He had acute pneumonia and contracted staphylococcus. His condition is extremely serious, and we are continuously afraid for his future.

After awakening from the coma, he still is awaiting his heart surgery to be performed. Today dad is conscious, but we don't know how much awareness he has. He reacts to his name by opening his eyes, but we are not sure if he is watching or reacting to other stimulus. Due to covid and the global pandemic, we cannot visit him in hospital. We cannot be close to him and give him the love, strength and support he needs.

The real fight will begin when Dad is discharged from the hospital. We have found a very good rehabilitation center that will provide him with the support he needs in his recovery to be our dad and husband to our mum…. The monthly cost is close to £5000 a month and the specialist doctors suggest a minimum stay of 1 year in the center to gain the maximum benefits.

We believe that professional care and therapy will enable proper regeneration, which we, as a family, are not able to pay for on our own. Fundraising is our only option to gather the necessary funds for the specific treatment for our beloved dad.

I am hopeful that this time next year, dad will be able to address us with his first words. That by looking at us, he will recognise his loved ones. It is the hope that holds us together as a family and gives us strength to fight for each day.
