Covid involved nearly 90% of Adam's lungs! Help fight the effects of the disease!

We thought for a long time whether to set up a fundraiser and ask all of you for help. However, we feel that without the help of other people we may not be able to help our Dad in the best way we could. This is the moment when we can act, protect and take care of our Dad's needs, support him in his fight for recovery. We hope the time of our helplessness is over. We hope that the time when our Dad was dependent solely on himself and doomed to loneliness in the Covid-19 hospital reality is over. Our Dad will to live is amazing. He coped with what the Doctors did not give him the slightest chance of. He won the most important game of his life. Now he needs our help to get back into shape. We believe it is possible. Our Dad went to the hospital on March 24 because of Covid-19 dyspnoea. The tomography showed typical Covid-19 changes covering about 50% of the lung parenchyma. Despite the treatment, on March 30, our Dad had to be intubated and ventilated. Covid-19 has already involved almost 90% of his lungs. This is a state when you can't breathe anymore. It was the most difficult time of the epidemic. We were getting signals that there could be not enough respirators. Fortunately, there was one for our Dad. Two weeks later, our Dad had a tracheostomy, all the time in a pharmacological coma. This time was the most difficult for us, uncertainty about what the next day would bring and complete helplessness. Especially when you get information from the doctors that the mortality rate in Covid-19 hospital intensive care units is about 80-90%. Dad's prognosis was not good. The next was the information about an extensive bifocal ischemic stroke. Doctors did not give our Dad a chance to wake up and regain consciousness. How is he today? Our Dad is in the Hospital Department of Neurological Therapy and Rehabilitation. He woke up and regained consciousness. The day he called us for the first time will be remembered for a long time. Some of the doctors call it a miracle. For us, it is nothing more than the amazing will to live and the strength of our Dad. Unfortunately, Covid-19, stroke and weeks spent in a coma made our Dad very weak. Only long-term rehabilitation can enable him to regain better and return home. He has already won the fight for his life. Now it's time for another match - this time the stake is to back to health. This time we can be with him in this fight. Our Dad lost his sight and is paralyzed unilaterally. We believe that by providing him with the best and comprehensive rehabilitation centers, we will help him win this match. If anyone knows our Dad - a physical education teacher, a volleyball coach for many years, an active enthusiast of mountain trips and the best grandfather in the world, he knows that our Dad will continue to fight. The costs of rehabilitation and treatment will amount to approx. PLN 20,000 per month. In addition, there is the cost of medical care, adaptation of the apartment, equipment and fittings that will facilitate his daily functioning and help in the fight against his disabilities.
