Alan was born without eyes! Urgent help is needed!

We need your help! 

Today, we must face another challenge. Thanks to you, we managed to raise funds for the previous surgeries. Unfortunately, I must ask you again for financial support to allow another reconstructive surgery to correct the orbital sockets and remove multiple scars from previous surgeries in Poland… The purpose is to enlarge the orbital sockets to fit the existing prosthetic eyes and stretch the eyelids. 

Before giving birth to Alan, I had thought he would be perfectly healthy. I had dreamed of the moment the doctor put my son in my arms. However, right after he was born, I heard he probably lacked eyes. I was heartbroken and shocked. I didn’t even have a chance to see little Alan’s face since they immediately took him for examination. I couldn’t imagine him without the eyes…

An hour later, the doctor confirmed the terrible diagnosis: the absence of eyes. 

Every parent knows how challenging a child’s well-being is and what it feels like to be helpless and in despair when you cannot afford to help your child. 

Currently, Alan has had the prosthetic eyes fitted in Kassel, Germany. They are exchanged regularly - every 6-8 weeks. The orbit’s depth, unlike the width, has been perfectly restored, which requires another correction surgery. 

Alan turned 6 in January. Thanks to additional neurological speech therapy sessions, he could say “mom”, “dad”,  and “I love you” for the first time. 

He attends a kindergarten for the blind, where therapists take care of him. 

He has also been diagnosed with autism, but despite that, he’s a happy boy! 

The prosthetic fitting is no longer possible because the eye orbits have outgrown the prosthetic eyes. That poses a risk of falling out of the prostheses. We have no time to lose! 

The surgery is scheduled for October 16, 2023.
