Kochani,

23 kwietnia nastąpił dzień, na który tak długo czekaliśmy! Antoś przeszedł operację obustronnej ulnaryzacji, którą wykonał doktor Paley. 

W czwartek odbyła się przedoperacyjna konsultacja z doktorem w Paley European Institute. Zostaliśmy bardzo ciepło przywitani, pan doktor bardzo rzeczowo wyjaśnił nam, na czym polega zabieg obustronnej ulnaryzacji oraz ile może potrwać. W piątek zostaliśmy przyjęci na oddział w szpitalu, który ściśle współpracuje z doktorem i jego zespołem.

W sobotę odbył się zabieg, który przeszedł pomyślnie. Teraz przed nami dość trudny czas, pełen bólu, zmartwień, pomocy i opieki. Antoś ma założone specjalne gipsowe opatrunki, które będzie musiał nosić przez 3 miesiące. Wiemy jednak, że to konieczne - wszystko po to, żeby synek mógł odzyskać sprawność.

Z całego serca dziękujemy wszystkim ludziom dobrego serca za pomoc i dołożenie cegiełki w walce o zdrowie i samodzielność naszego Antosia.

Dziękujemy wszystkim, dzięki którym nasz synek mógł mieć ten skomplikowany zabieg. Teraz musimy skupić się na Antosiu i na tym, aby szybko wrócił do zdrowia.

Antoś was born with atrophy of the radius in both hands, left kidney agenesis and thrombocytopenia. For us, parents, it was a huge shock, because throughout the pregnancy none of the doctors saw the defect of Antoś’s hands. Thrombocytopenia resolved a few days after delivery, while the problem of upper limb defects spells our eyes. We began to look for ways to treat such a defect. NFZ treatment did not give Antoś prospects for improving his ability to function independently. It was difficult to reconcile with the thought that our child is doomed to disability. We didn't give up and looked for help further. And so we appeared for the consultation at the Paley European Institute.

The doctors gave us the hope we were looking for so long. There is a chance that in the future Antoś will have normally working hands. In spite of hope, our joy is a suppressed worry. The operation of Antoś’s hands was valued at nearly PLN 400,000. It is an amount that exceeds many of us, but we, Antoś’s parents, have to collect it. Our child's future depends on it. We believe that together we will be able to accumulate this amount.
