❗️ Desperate fight against time to help Borysek - surgery urgently needed!

We are facing the most difficult challenge in our life - a challenge that we are helpless against ... Illness of our little son. Borys was born with a defect that occurs once in 60,000 births ... The only chance for him is a difficult and an expensive treatment. We have to collect over four hundred thousand zloty’s (equivalent to £80,000) - otherwise our son will suffer a disability, deformation of the whole body and terrible suffering ... Please help!

We were so happy for our family to grow ... Unaware of anything, we counted the days to delivery, believing that we would welcome a healthy baby to the world. We knew that it would be a boy - Borys. All the checks went very well and the pregnancy was without any complications. Full of joy, we were waiting for our son’s birth. At the time, we had no idea that life had prepared a dramatic scenario for us and our child…

On 27th September 2020, he was born – our beloved Borys. Uninterrupted happiness lasted only tens of hours ... In the second day of our son's life, the doctors noticed the asymmetry of the hip. The orthopedist who first saw Borys did not even know what was wrong with him. After a week of living in uncertainty, we heard that our son was born with a very rare congenital defect that affects one in 60,000 children - he suffers from Congenital Femoral Deficiency (CFD), a genetic underdevelopment of the femur. Borys's right hip joint has not fully developed, and the right femur is shorter and curved. On his first day in this world, his leg was shorter than the other one by as much as 3.5 centimetres!

Unfortunately, the difference is getting greater and greater every day ... A sick leg does not grow as fast as a healthy one. By the end of our son's growth development, the difference will be as much as 16 centimetres! If we do nothing, our son will not only have a much shorter leg - he will limp, have problems with walking, struggle with curvature of the spine, pelvis and deformation of the whole body ... He will have to wear an artificial limb for the rest of his life.

After we have heard the diagnosis we were shocked, upset and terrified, but we knew one thing: we can't wait and watch our son suffer! We do not want to watch Borys fall over the shorter leg when trying to take his first steps ... We just want one thing - that he walks, runs and jumps like all other children.

We started looking for parents of children with similar problems and a doctor who can help Borys to stand on his feet. Unfortunately, the case of our son is very complicated ... There is a necessity to extend the bone and reconstruct the hip. This is how we got to the European Paley Institute, where Dr. Paley operates - a world-famous orthopedist, specialist in the treatment of children with the most severe defects of hands and legs. A few years ago, it could only be possible in the USA, now the doctor comes to Poland and operates at the Institute in Warsaw. He gave us hope for a healthy future for Borys. Our son will face a long and painful treatment and tedious rehabilitation, but thanks to that he can be completely healthy.

We were glad to see the light in the tunnel, unfortunately, there were bad news right next to our hope ... Unfortunately, the treatment is not reimbursed by the National Health Service. Borys has to undergo three complicated operations, the total cost of which is over a million zloty’s. The first of them can take place when our son is 1.5 years old, i.e. in four months!

The cost of the next surgery has been estimated at almost four hundred thousand zloty’s ... For us, this amount is unavailable to be saved in such a short time. The prospect of three operations brings a headache, but we know that this is the only chance for our son's normal and proper development. For his first steps and life without pain, without limits ...

We need to gather this money as soon as possible. Borys grows and the difference between a sick leg and a healthy leg deepens ... The time is our enemy. We are begging for help so that our son can stand on his feet! We must do everything to fight for our boy. As we are not able to gather so much money in such a short time therefore we ask for your support, help and to share our collection so it can reach as many people as possible... The only hope is you.
