Fundraiser description
We had found out that Bruno was sick before he was even born… He was diagnosed with four-limb arthrogryposis, bilateral clubfoot, and bone fragility. He broke his hip bone when he was in my womb! We were terrified. We could not prevent it, but today we do our best to soothe his suffering…
The minute Bruno was born, a series of tests and examinations began, and so did our new life, which we adjusted to fit Bruno’s needs. Further tests revealed that arthrogryposis is a genetic disorder. Along with bone fragility, it stands for a rare disease called Bruck syndrome, which affects less than one in a million infants!
First, we took care of Bruno’s feet. He’s already had a series of foot casts and tendon repair surgery to improve the mobility of the right foot. Currently, our son uses special orthopedic footwear.
He’s also wearing specialized orthoses and splints, which he finds uncomfortable. However, they will bring long-term benefits, especially when he grows up.
Our now 14-month-old son undergoes constant and strenuous physical therapy, which has already contributed to the improvement of his motor skills. Although his milestones are delayed by 4-6 months, we still consider it a success and hope for the best!
Arthrogryposis requires intense physical therapy, which brings a risk of bone fracture. In this case, individual treatment provided by experienced specialists is crucial.
Currently, Bruno crawls. Although physical therapy has strengthened his muscles, it cannot provide a complete recovery! Bruno requires surgery that needs to be performed in October… Our time is running out…
The surgery would prepare Bruno’s joints for further milestones, including the ability to sit, stand, and finally, walk…
The postoperative period will be intense. Due to Bruno’s bone fragility, he would require specialized orthopedic equipment to allow his full recovery.
Every day we witness Bruno’s suffering… We can see what happens to his tiny hands and feet… So far he’s experienced ca. 15 different bone fractures! That we know of…
They can be distinguished by thickened skin tissue.
The cost of physical therapy, special equipment, and surgical procedures is enormous. It is the reason we are asking for your support!
What can bring us RELIEF? If we achieve the goals of our fundraiser! It is the only hope to free Bruno from pain… After all, he is only one year old!
Our situation is dramatic. We would never wish any parent to see the suffering of a child. We will do our best to heal Bruno!
Every donation matters! Please help…
