Fundraiser description

In December, we asked our 11-year-old son, born on Christmas Eve, about his birthday and Christmas wishes. He responded without a doubt… “I want to be healthy”!

David is a determined, optimistic, and cheerful boy diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in November 2022.  Additionally, he’s been suffering from celiac disease (gluten intolerance) since he was two, which requires him to follow many dietary restrictions.

Currently, his immune system has been destroying the pancreas cells producing insulin. We need to control his blood sugar by measuring its level every day.

Since the diagnosis, our lives have changed significantly. We must obey doctors’ recommendations to prevent life-threatening complications - hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and ketoacidosis.

However, David’s Christmas wish might come true this year, as he has been qualified to receive an innovative TREG therapy developed by two specialists from the Medical University in Gdańsk!

In this method, regulatory T lymphocytes are taken from a patient’s body, multiplied in a laboratory, and then administered to him. A higher number of Tregs in his body enables him to maintain liver function, at least partially. To save what hasn’t been yet destroyed by the disease.

T-cell treatment will let David avoid dangerous diabetes complications by stopping its progress. It is a huge opportunity for health improvement, and the data collected during his therapy will also contribute to the development of the Treg project.

Unfortunately, it is non-refundable and costs 350,000 zlotys.

It is why we ask for your help and a chance for a better future for our child.

Thank you for staying…thank you for your support…
