I have already lost one child. I can not loose this fight for Jerzyk. Save the small heart!

URGENT! The worst part of the history is that we have critically little time to collect the amount of money which could save our son’s life. Our son’s heart can stop working any time now. Help! The last month has been a waking nightmare. Our home converted into a hospital, the sense of security into ever-present fear. Thanks to the doctors’ help we gained some time, but Jerzyk’s heart needs to undergo a surgery in a swiss clinic. We have to act immediately! Each day of waithood is ruthless counting days to death… There is no bigger fear in the world as the fear of your own child. The child, who was just about to come to thus world. It has a life to live, but you already know, that the life will not be easy, nor healthy… We will always remember the day when we found out that there is something wrong with the heart of our baby boy as it is the day we want the most to erase from our memories, so that it would never happen… A young doctor was conducting the examination extremely long, I thought he just wanted to be very precise.

Unfortunately… From that moment on, we knew that Jerzyk is coming to this world with heart condition which cannot be treated prenatally, but you have to wait until the day of birth. Any correction of the heart condition was possible only after the son’s birth. The labor was to take place in a specialized clinic, and myself instead of feeling the intimacy and happiness of the most beautiful moments in a woman’s life I felt fear and helplessness. Surrounded by 10 doctors I waited to hear my son’s first cry. He cried, and I cried with him – of happiness, as it meant that he is able to breath on his own. The heart defect appeared to be very complex: ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, pulmonic stenosis in three points, aortic stenosis of the pulmonary artery, right-hand isomerism, transposition of the great arteries. After the labor was diagnosed with Goldenhar’s Syndrome – syndrome of congenital defects: apart from the heart disease there is also hearing impairment and defect of the craniofacial system. Pain and Jerzy are inseparable. For years, when the night comes, the terrible insufferable body-bending pain follows, saturation drops to 65(!!!). Due to the exhaustion of the heart one third of needed oxygen does not make it to the brain. My son has already undergone the necessary surgical treatment, treatments thanks to which he is still alive, but more operations were needed, this time in Geneva. The first stage planned by the Geneva hospital is behind us. Jerzy is recovering quickly, although the operation was very difficult. Jerzy's defect was to be corrected in two stages. The first was the stabilization of our son's heart and the reduction of pulmonary hypertension. The doctors in Geneva were the only ones to undertake such a complicated operation and the only one who managed to repair the valve, which earlier attempts to do in the country did not bring results. The second step is to increase blood oxygenation, which is extremely low and life-threatening for Jerzy. Jerzy's illness taught us that plans do not always have much to do with reality. There is another operation ahead of us, which should be carried out as soon as possible. We consulted our problems with Polish hospitals, but in the case of such a complicated defect treated abroad, it is not possible to perform the surgery on the spot. The cost of the operation and specialized flight is almost one and a half million. The amount we need immediately to save a life! It is difficult to accept the fact that our son's further good life depends on money. We have already lost one child (Krzys - our younger brother) and we know how big this gap is in our heart. We are begging for help for our son, for a beautiful future that he deserves so much!
