Fundraiser description
We always wanted a big family, and Elenka's birth made that dream come true. During pregnancy, everything seemed fine. We were not prepared for the news that followed.
It was a huge shock for us when three days after Elenka was born, she was diagnosed with CDF (Congenital Femoral Deficiency).

This congenital defect is characterized by a short femur - one of Elenka’s legs is much shorter than the other. The birth of our daughter was supposed to be the most beautiful day of our lives. Instead, it was filled with fear, tears, and unanswered questions. The limb length discrepancy has now progressed to 5.5 cm. The doctors warned us that without the treatment, it might reach even 30 cm in the future.
Although Elenka is only five months old, her life is already different from the lives of her healthy peers. Every month, the discrepancy between her lower limbs widens.
Without treatment, our daughter might never be able to walk! Thankfully, the specialists from the Paley European Institute have already examined Elenka and prepared a treatment strategy for her. According to them, the only chance for her recovery is complex, multiple leg-lengthening surgeries, followed by many years of intense rehabilitation.

We exercise with our daughter three times a week with the assistance of a physical therapist, and four days a week at home. We support her development as much as possible to increase her chances for recovery. We realise the rehabilitation itself isn’t enough, though.
There are already four surgeries planned for Elenka, and each one costs ca. PLN 200,000.
The overall cost of treatment is enormous, and we cannot afford it. Sadly, time is against our daughter.
Elenka smiles and waves, unaware of the challenges ahead.
We are, though, and this is why we must ask you for help. Please help us fight for a better future for our daughter. Every donation or share brings Elenka closer to standing on her own feet and taking the first step one day.
