Metastatic malignant renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer)

Started: 01 July 2020
Ends: 30 August 2020

The immunotherapy, which can save Ewelina's life, will cost about 1 million zlotys! Help!

What is really important in our life? It was 3 March when I found out that I must begin to fight for my life. Suddenly everything else has stopped to be important. I am a mother of a little girl who needs me. I am only 36 years old and I have just been diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer that has already metastasized. However, I am strong enough to believe that I will conquer this cancer. The doctor said that my last hope is the immunotherapy, which is not refundable... I would like to ask you to help me pay for the immunotherapy. This treatment is my chance to live.

It has started with a stomach ache from the side. It has lasted for a few days until I finally went to the doctor. When the doctor pressed my body more firmly in one place, I thought I would die of pain. Then four hours later I was at the hospital A&E department (SOR), where the examination showed tumors on the kidney. It took a moment for my whole world to fall apart ...

A CT scan has revealed a scenario that I could not predict even in my worst nightmares - malignant kidney cancer. I have heard that I have a couple years left ... Horror, despair, lose and one question. What now? When we usually find out what our test results are, we do not believe it at first, and then we start to deny the obvious. In such a situation we usually start to think that it is impossible, this can't be me, this cannot be my family ... However, cancer does not choose. The cancer has attacked me and I have to do everything to live. It is not that easy especially when we are left alone ...

The next day after the diagnosis, we began to look for the smallest ray of hope. It was the beginning of the pandemic, hospitals were being closed down. At the last second, we were able to establish the day of the surgery with the doctors and I underwent surgery for cancer. It was necessary to cut out one kidney with the adrenals and the lymph nodes.

Waiting for the result of the sample taken from the cut out kidney was probably even worse than the moment when I found out about the cancer. It is renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) - very rare and very dangerous. There are only 60 cases in the world like mine ...

After the surgery the doctors let me go home and I was told that there is nothing more the doctors can do for me. I was also informed that I should come back to the hospital for a follow-up examination in three months. However, fear did not allow us to wait. My husband and I traveled almost all over Poland. In the end we met a wonderful doctor in Katowice who did a full-body CT scan. It revealed lung and lymph node metastases ...

I found out that there is no hope for me. In the eyes of the law, I was too healthy to start the reimbursed treatment. The required symptoms of the reimbursed treatment will appear at the last stage of the disease, when the treatment is no longer needed ... The heartlessness of the law is as terrifying as the disease itself. What were we supposed to do? Give up and wait for the end? We could not accept that.

We found a prominent kidney cancer urologist in Otwock. We managed to start the chemotherapy, but we have to pay for it. The chemotherapy will end in three months, and then the immunotherapy will be needed. However, we will have to pay for the immunotherapy, too. This treatment exceeds the financial capacities of our family. One month of immunotherapy treatment will be 40 000 zlotys. The treatment must be of a duration of at least two years and cannot be stopped!

How much is my life worth? Over 1 million zlotys. Please help me and I promise I will do everything to win this fight! I am only 36 years old and I have a daughter who I have to raise. I want to live so badly ...
