Filip is fighting brain cancer… Today, he needs us more than ever❗️ HELP❗️

In August 2021, our world stopped. We found out that our beloved son had a brain tumor. Since the diagnosis, fear has taken over our lives. It all started with an innocent headache that, over time, grew more intense, accompanied by morning vomiting. In the hospital, the doctors said that a fluid had built up in Filip’s head, and he had life-threatening hypertension…  Only several hours later, we would have lost him…

Since then, Filip has already undergone eight serious surgeries: five for hydracephalus, two for partial tumor removal, and one for chemo port placement. Despite being life-saving, they resulted in side effects: hydrocephalus, affective instability, paralysis, musculoskeletal deformities, vision problems, hypopituitarism, nervous system disorders, and hypothalamus dysfunction.

In Filip’s head, there’s still a large part of the tumor, which is inoperable due to its location. If removed, it might cause vision loss and disability. Also, despite the treatment, the tumor is still active. Chemotherapy had to be stopped because of serious complications. We’re waiting for the MRI scan, scheduled for July 2026, and for the doctors’ opinion on further treatment.

After numerous surgical procedures and treatments, Filip developed serious neurological and emotional problems and insomnia. Unfortunately, therapies and medication have been ineffective.

Due to intense, rapid changes in Filip’s emotional state that occur up to a dozen times a day, he requires round-the-clock care. We must be there for him 24/7, react to his sudden emotional attacks, and protect him, ourselves, and his younger sister Zuzia, which is physically and mentally exhausting. Although we all regularly see a psychologist and psychiatrist, we feel overwhelmed. 

Exhaustion, lack of sleep, and stress have affected Filip’s father’s work. We feel like prisoners in our own house, since we cannot leave Filip alone even for one moment. We rarely leave home and often feel lonely and helpless. 

The costs of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical equipment are enormous. For four years, we’ve been fighting with the enemy that has attacked our son’s and our family’s lives. We won’t surrender, although we’re exhausted.
