Franek was born with an underdeveloped right foot. After birth, it turned out that he was missing his fifth finger, while the second finger had not fully developed and was shorter than the others. Later X-ray examinations also indicated improper structure of the ankle joint. Therefore, the right foot does not fulfill its function and currently requires support with an orthosis, and in the future even three operations - changing the shape of the ankle joint, stabilizing the foot and perhaps lengthening the leg.

Despite the defect, Franuś learned how to walk, although his right leg was shorter by 2 cm. Sadly, the doctors told us that Franek would require surgery - foot and ankle osteotomy, to reshape bones in the ankle region.

Until then, he needs an orthosis, though.  

Otherwise, his right leg will grow slower than the other due to the asymmetric distribution of foot load during gait. It will result in a limb-length discrepancy, issues with the pelvis and spine, and eventually - a disability!

Until now, Franek used a DAFO (Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthosis), a short orthosis that costs ca. 2,500 zlotys. We could afford it since it was partially reimbursed from the National Health Fund.

Unfortunately, Franek is growing and becoming taller and heavier, so the DAFO orthosis is no longer effective. He now requires AFO - ankle foot orthosis, which is longer. Unfortunately, it is also more expensive. Despite partial reimbursement, we still need several thousand zlotys to purchase it. 

We are asking you for support so that Franek won't have to worry about his health in the future and live like other teenagers. Thanks to you, our son can recover and regain his physical abilities!
