Let's help Franek!

Frank’s heart weakens - a serious heart defect progresses and makes his life more and more threatened. Our son’s 1st birthday was on 18th of Feb, it  means that the heart surgery should be performed soon. We have sent the current test results to Professor Carotti - the best defect specialist Frank was born with. It may be that due to Frank's age we will have to go to Rome within a month! Unfortunately - this will not be possible if we do not pay for the surgery. Please, help us to save his life!

We found out that Frank's heart was very sick even before he was born. It was so hard to talk about joyful anticipation of a child when fear accompanied us day and night. We expected Frank to be taken for the surgery soon after delivery. Fortunately, it turned out that despite the defect, he does not need to be operated immediately.

Frank was diagnosed with cardiac abnormalities in the form of pulmonary atresia (PA) with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and collateral arteries (MAPCA), which is an extreme form of Fallot tetralogy of Fallot. We have learned that our son will have long, multi-stage treatment and rehabilitation. We are so afraid, but  we are able to bear everything for Frank!

We couldn't go home right after delivery like other parents. Frank was connected to a bedside monitor that controlled the work of his heart. He layed among the cables and large machines, and we watched by. Accurate diagnostics and treatment have begun.

We spent the first two months in the hospital - in turns, because we tried to combine the care of Frank and his 3-year-old sister Lila. We survived the first serious diagnosis -  cardiac catheterization. We survived the first ups and downs. We tried our best to understand how a heart with a defect works - we learned how to care for, monitor and feed a child with heart disease. After two months we could finally go home. We left the hospital but the fear did not disappear - we still did not know what tomorrow might bring. Every infection is a threat for Franl...

Today, when Franek is over 12 months old, it’s time for another hart catheterization and a decision what exactly surgery needs to be performed. We decided to turn to a specialist reference center for this type of defect, and especially its extreme form, which is the Bambino Gesu children's hospital in Rome.

We have started consultations regarding defect correction with Professor Adriano Carotti. We have not yet received a detailed cost estimate, but we already know that the costs will be around 40,000. euro. We have decided to start collecting funds now to not be too late!

Our fight for Frank’s healthy heart will be long, but we will never give up! We promised ourselves that we would do everything to treat him as best as possible and give him the best chance for a healthy future. We are afraid because every mistake can cost too much, so please help. If we receive information from the hospital that we need to operate immediately, we will have to pay the price for Frank’s healthy heart as soon as possible. Please, help us to do it…
