Let's help Gintek!

Gintaut- a husband and a father. He's 50 years old. He's been sick since 2015. He was diagnosed the cavernosa of the spinal cord (jamistość rdzenia kręgowego) - it's a rare and still occurring disease with irreversible consequences.

The year 2015- a fall from a ladder that causes unconsciousness. An ambulance takes him to the emergency room.He gets a X-ray MR and they find a spinal hematoma. They let him go home withuot helping. After a few months we had a consultation with a neurosurgen, he was diognosed with cavernosa of the spinal cord (jamistość rdzenia kręgowego) . There was nothing to do, he had to learn to live with it because the surgery would only make it worse. The whole family was in shock.

After a few years another he had another MR scan and more consultations with a neurosurgens. The same diognosis- cavernous. Gintaut’s health was declining, but especially his muscle strength. He was walking with crutches, until one day he couldn’t even get up. That was in November 2017. The doctors said they couldn’t help us. That’s how we lived, with Gintaut’s health non stop declinig. Then he got paralysis, so he had to stay in bed. Medicine wouldn’t help and he wasn’t capable to do anything by himself and needed (and still needs) somebody elses help 24/7.

It’s the year 2022. More visits and consultations with doctors. The answer stays the same, until the paper version of the description comes – suspicion of a tumor. Visit by the doctor. He told us that he has to have an operation, that’s the only way they can figure out if it’s a tumor or something not dangerous. We started looking hourly, daily for a good doctor, that would corectly read the test results and give a proper diagnosis. We found one- a known neurosurgeon from Warsaw . The doctor said that it was tumor and it probably was there since 2015. We have to do an operation, the success rate is 50%, but the consequences of the other 50% is that he will be connected to a respirator for rest of his life, We were devistated.

However we found light at the end of the tunel- in a private clinic “Neurochirurgi. Dr n.med. Witold Libionka”, who assured us that he would remove the tumor withuot damaging the nerves. They need to do an urgent surgery, but that costs money. That’s why we- a 5 member family are asking for your help, to improve the comfort of my husband and our family. After the surgery he will need rediation therapy and rehabilitation, but to get to these places costs a lot (gas prices are only going up And we need a special car for a disabled person).
