Fundraiser description

Until March 2024, I was happily married, physically active, and had a career. A month later, I found out I had bone cancer - proximal humerus chondrosarcoma that turned my world upside down. All my plans and dreams didn't matter anymore. Since the diagnosis, every day has been an emotional rollercoaster and a race against time.

I went through MRIs, CT scans, histopathology tests, and numerous medical appointments. I had ups and downs. I heard two types of news – the worst and the best – that I had one year left to live and the next day that I had easy-to-cure non-metastatic cancer. Thankfully, I got a lot of support from the doctors, my family, and friends. They gave me the strength to stay positive!

On July 3, at the hospital in Piekary Śląskie, I underwent an upper limb amputation surgery that involved a shoulder disarticulation. After that, I started asking myself questions. How would I get back to reality, or would I be able to pick up where I left off with my hobbies?

How would I live without a limb?

And then, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. My sister-in-law found an online article about high-tech prosthetic arms. Once again, I met wonderful, empathetic specialists from Cracow who made me realize that today, the lack of an arm is not the end of the world because we have prostheses that can substitute it.

Such a device can make life easier! It allows for various activities like opening a bottle, slicing bread, or even riding a bicycle! However, it's expensive - it costs over 200,000 zlotys! PLEASE help me raise this enormous amount of money. Every donation or share means the world to me!

Thank you!

Grzegorz

Update March 13, 2026

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your massive kindness. Today, I'd like to share a brief update with you.

Thanks to your generosity and extra help, I was able to purchase two expensive prostheses - one bionic and one cosmetic. Until recently, it seemed impossible! This time, however, we succeeded! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Thanks to the bionic prosthesis, I can perform basic yet crucial daily activities - holding a potato while peeling it, collecting leaves in the garden, riding a bike, and participating in Nordic Walking races. Not long ago, I took 15th place among 179 contestants in the 7km “Paprocan Pearl” run in Tychy in the OPEN category. Moments like these remind me that the sky is the limit! I use the other, cosmetic prosthesis when working on my computer. It’s much lighter and more comfortable. Both prosthetic solutions offer me great independence.

My journey hasn’t ended yet, though. To prevent stiffness in the left side of my torso, I need regular rehabilitation. Maintaining physical activity and staying healthy requires effort, therapy, massages, and treatments. The monthly costs are rising...

This is why I would like to ask you for support one more time. Any donation gives me hope for a better future! It also motivates me and gives me strength. I know I’m not alone in this!

Grzegorz
