Przed nami teraz kilkanaście dni obserwacji i ujarzmiania skutków ubocznych i kilka ważnych punktów kontrolnych.

Doświadczyliśmy najpierw potężnego stresu, strachu o życie naszego dziecka, a potem porwała nas fala dobra i empatii, którą wywołała nasza mała dziewczynka.

Alicja, Marcin, Hania i Szymek

Fundraiser description

VERY URGENT! Our four-year-old daughter Hania has been suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia for the second time. Two months after she had recovered, she developed worrying symptoms. The diagnosis, which everyone is afraid of at the oncology unit, was RECURRENCE! Cancer recurred in the nervous system, which happens rarely and is difficult to treat…

The only safe way to cure our daughter, exhausted from two-year-long chemotherapy, is to perform an innovative CAR T-cell therapy.

Unfortunately, it is non-refundable… The price to pay for a chance to save our child’s life is almost 1.5 million zlotys!

We must collect it since Hania is our whole world!  We will do everything to save her! It is why we must ask you for help. The treatment must start AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Our battle began in 2020 when the pandemic started… Hania was 1,5 years old then and had a fever that would not go away…

Her doctor was worried, so she ordered blood tests and referred her to the hospital. The initial diagnosis was thrombocytopenia.

However, the hospital treatment failed… Hania was not herself - she became anxious and weak. We had two options - to complete the treatment and see how it goes or let Hania undergo a biopsy.

We chose the latter. On Thursday, August 6, 2020, we learned that Hania had acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Such moments are unforgettable...

The first weeks after the diagnosis was the worst period in our lives… Realizing that our little girl had such a terrible, deadly disease was hard. Another painful experience was facing the reality of the cancer unit.

Blood transfusions, lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, chemotherapy, and tears became a part of everyday life… Being isolated, lonely, and homesick during the pandemic was also tough.

Hania handled the treatment fantastically. For her, being in the risk group meant facing a possible recurrence. After spending roughly eight months in the hospital, Hania started maintenance therapy, including oral chemotherapy, checkups to ensure cancer did not relapse, and minding herself due to a weakened immune system. On August 8, 2022, Hania took her last medication, and two weeks later, the biopsy showed no trace of cancer!

We thought we defeated the disease. Hania returned to the kindergarten, and we moved on with our lives. That did not last long, though... At the end of September, Hania was sick again... She developed an infection and was vomiting. In the hospital, the MRI showed nothing. Hania received antibiotics for her sinusitis. Everything seemed fine.

Unfortunately, our daughter was not herself again... She was grumpy and developed problems with walking and keeping her balance. She could not lift the left corner of her mouth. We went to the hospital again.

The morning after, the head of the cancer ward came to us saying that Hania might have a relapse in the brain, which was confirmed by a cerebrospinal fluid examination. The central nervous system relapse of leukemia was almost unbelievable, and yet, it happened...

Hania is fighting for life again... This time, her battle is much worse than the previous one. Her body is weakened and exhausted from the 2-year-long cancer therapy. After the third chemo, she ended up in the ICU, where she spent three weeks... She experienced a septic shock and organ failure. We were horrified and feared for her life...

The next stage of treatment for her was to receive a bone marrow transplant from her brother. Unfortunately, Hania would probably not survive it...

In medical opinion, the only cure and last resort is an innovative CAR T-cell therapy. It might help her body fight the disease by modifying lymphocytes in a way that they can recognize and destroy cancer cells.

It is the only safe and non-toxic treatment option that will not strain her body and offer her a chance to regain health and stay alive.

Unfortunately, the expensive therapy is non-refundable for Hania. We must pay for it ourselves. Time is running out! Cancer cells have already taken over the central nervous system!

We must ask you for donations to let Hania defeat leukemia and live! Please, help us. As her parents, we are begging you from the bottom of our hearts - we won't make it without your support.
