Fundraiser description
Ilona is the most wonderful wife, sister, friend, and mother of 4. On March 7, she collapsed on the street and flexed oddly. After regaining consciousness, she went into the ambulance that transported her to the nearby hospital. The CT scan showed that she had developed an aneurysm!
She was immediately transferred to the hospital in Bydgoszcz to undergo two surgeries and received a grade 5 on the Hunt and Hess Scale, which means a 50% chance of survival. She was in critical condition!
Fortunately, suction decompression and clipping of the aneurysm were successful. The first three days after the surgery were crucial. Thankfully, there were no complications, and my mom survived…

Two days after the surgery, she was transferred to the hospital in Włocławek (she was in a coma and on a ventilator). Five weeks later, she opened her eyes and moved her right hand and head. The test results were good, and so was the CT scan.
However, on April 16, a discharge started to seep from the wound at the back of her head! It turned out it was a subdural empyema. She underwent a third surgery to drain the fluid from her brain.

Currently, her initial medical condition has been restored. Soon she will be transferred to the neurosurgical unit, where the doctors will keep an eye on her to ensure she will not develop another empyema.
The next step is to take her to the rehabilitation facility. We want to provide our mom with a place where she is taken care of well. We have already found the one that is close to our home.
Unfortunately, the monthly cost of physical therapy will be enormous and affect our financial capabilities.
We ask you for support from the bottom of our hearts - so that our mom recovers as quickly as possible and regains her old life.
Weronika, Ilona's daughter
