URGENT surgery can save Jagoda! We would sacrifice our hearts to keep her alive!

Our daughter Jagoda was born in 2020 with a complex heart defect called corrected transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary atresia, and ventricular septal defect. The only life-saving solution for Jagoda was an exceptionally complicated double-switch surgery involving a replacement of her pulmonary artery with Contegra® Conduit. 

After many consultations and searches, we found help in the Geneva clinic, where such treatment has been effective. Thanks to your donations, we could pay for the expensive surgery! On February 3, 2021, Jagoda underwent successful treatment for CCTGA. We will never forget when we saw our baby girl after the surgery! Only after we'd seen her lips and fingers change color from blue to pink did we realize how essential the procedure was. 

She transformed from being on the verge of death into an energetic, beautiful girl. Thanks to the amazing care we received and the efficient surgery at Geneva Clinic, we could return home in no time. Jagoda recovered and could start a normal childhood!

However, bearing in mind her complex heart defect, we knew she should get regular heart examinations despite the surgery she had gone through since unexpected complications might still occur. The Polish cardiologists

kept in touch with the Geneva clinic and were ready to contact the Swiss doctors in the case of an emergency. 

A while ago, our carefreeness ended. One of the follow-up examinations revealed aortic valve stenosis, which puts strain on the left ventricle. Over time, it can lead to myocardial injury and damage an aortic valve. In other words, Jagoda might suffer from heart failure. Without surgery, her life will be in danger. However, since the defect hasn't affected Jagoda's heart condition yet, the doctors suggested waiting several years until she was old enough to bear another open-heart surgery. At that time, Jagoda underwent an MRI scan and echocardiogram test. 

The results we sent to the Geneva clinic alarmed the doctors. We must take action - there is no time to lose! 

The best solution for Jagoda is to return to Geneva and get help from the doctor who had performed her first life-saving heart surgery two years ago. The correction procedure made the heart structure more complex. 

Jagoda now requires surgery to remove the stenosis and replace the Contegra® Conduit (pulmonary valved conduit) since Jagoda has outgrown the previous one. Unfortunately, regular replacement surgeries are necessary to prevent hypoxia, characterized by bluish-colored lips and fingers - a life-threatening condition. We cannot let this nightmare come back! 

That is why we have contacted the Geneva Clinic. 

Although Jagoda has been qualified for the treatment and received a cost estimate, we cannot afford it! It costs ca. 600,000 zlotys! 

We must ask you for help once again. Jagoda is a beautiful, happy, and energetic child. She has a chance to live a healthy life! All she needs is the surgery... We believe you can help us raise money for surgery and hospital stays in Geneva.
