Jarek does not know a goal other than a constant fight for his life. What about dreams ? They were forgotten a long time ago, when our son was diagnosed with a lymphoma spreading to bone marrow at the age of 6. Since then, everything has changed. Jarek has been sentenced for suffering, which is impossible to describe. This fight will never be over. Every time we manage to rebuild our hope, we receive another information which turns it into dust and leaves us with a paralysing fear…
Even as a baby, Jarek came along a rough path, which included chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, although he managed to fight one enemy, more of them came along—osteoporosis and viral hepatitis. His childhood, adolescence, and now adulthood have been for Jarek—and us— periods of constant anxiety.
In 2018, we received another heartbreaking news. Jarek was diagnosed with brain tumour! We couldn’t believe it. The nightmare came back, and our son had to stand up to another fight which would take away his whole strength! It turned out that one surgery removing the tumour was insufficient. There were three of them! After the third one, it turned out that his optic nerves are damaged and Jarek started to lose sight in his left eye. There might be another surgery to remove his eyeball and substitute it with an ocular prosthesis.
Every day, we ask ourselves the same question—when will this nightmare end ? When will we receive at least one positive information instead of terrible news? Meanwhile, another bad test results came back, causing more pain. Our son is suspected of having viral hepatitis, and he might need another treatment.
There are times when we truly lack strength. Actually, Jarek has been fighting for health his entire life, and when he’s trying to make a step forward in this horrifying journey, another dangers keep coming, taking away his health, dreams, and a chance for a normal life. It’s a fight that takes up all our resources and deprives us of hope. We are begging you for help. Without you, we will not be able to cover the costs of treatment, which are above our expectations on a daily basis!
