Fundraiser description

One moment was enough to irreversibly change Jarek’s life. Cerebral haemorrhage, a struggle for life, fear, and anxiety – fear if my husband would survive the night. I did not know what our life would be like or if Jarek would pull himself together in the new reality. The prognosis was uncertain, but we managed to survive the most difficult moments.

Severe headache, high pressure, paralysis... Jarek was taken to the hospital very quickly. Within only 15 minutes he was being taken care of by the doctors! I do not even want to think what would happen if he waited longer. Time was on his side and allowed Jarek to survive and to avoid total disability. Nevertheless, the stroke has caused havoc in Jarek’s body. It has caused neurological damage which requires constant rehabilitation to be repaired. It is the only possible treatment. Intensive rehabilitation is the only way to reduce the effects of the stroke and the risk of complications.

Jarek undergoes physical, speech and occupational therapy on a daily basis. Although his mental state was bad, my husband did not give up. He practised and slowly regained hope. All this combined with extremely hard work brings great results. Specialists say that Jarek has a chance to get back to normal life. Although the damaged cells will not recover, brain plasticity, i.e. taking over lost functions, may occur. The tissues of the intact brain area can take over to some degree the functions of damaged areas. This does not happen spontaneously; constant care and appropriate, systematic rehabilitation under the watchful eye of a physiotherapist is necessary. We cannot stop fighting. Jarek must continue his rehabilitation without any interruptions, otherwise all the progress he has made so far will be lost.

The road to recovery is bumpy. I can see that this is all very difficult for Jarek. He is a prisoner in his own home. I would like to alleviate his suffering. That is why I am asking you for help. Help us pay for specialist care, which is expensive and beyond the financial capabilities of our family. This is the only chance for us to get at least part of our lives back...

Please, do not be indifferent. Support my husband in his struggle for regaining self-reliance.
