Fundraiser description
My name is Lucas, and I am a happy father of four. My eldest child Julia is 13 and suffers from Rhett syndrome. Her life is far from perfect due to her numerous health issues. I try my best to improve her life. It is not that simple, though.
Julia was born a healthy baby. She received an Apgar score of 10. However, when she turned one, she began to miss developmental milestones. That's when we started to rehabilitate her and search for the reason for the delay.

Strenuous physical therapy has allowed my beloved daughter to walk and speak. Unfortunately, before her third birthday, Julia faced a major setback. The disease attacked her body again. I was so scared!
She didn't communicate with us for a week. She also couldn't walk or even sit and stopped speaking. She suddenly moved backward in her development and lost the abilities she had gained during rehabilitation. It was heartbreaking.
In 2015, we received a diagnosis - Rett syndrome. Currently, Julia is 13 and has lost the use of her hands. She can only make a few steps with help from others. I sense her urge to speak her mind. She lacks the tools to express her thoughts and feelings, though. She has also developed breathing issues.

My daughter visits many specialists: gastroenterologist, orthopedist, and neurologist. She undergoes rehabilitation twice a week and attends rehabilitation camps. Thankfully, she hasn't developed two classic Rett syndrome symptoms like scoliosis and seizures. We might contribute to the effort and progress made during physical therapy.

Julia is a wonderful, curious girl. She loves taking a stroll, listening to music, and watching cartoons. Her biggest passion is animals, though - we constantly watch albums with cats, dogs, and horses.

Although she cannot say what she wants, I try to keep her company in as many activities as possible so that she can discover the world. We often visit the theme park and go to a concert. What she enjoys the most is a rehabilitation camp where she can spend time with animals!
Unfortunately, the costs of treatment and rehabilitation are enormous. We also need funds for a new wheelchair for Julia since the one she uses is worn out and challenging - it cannot drive everywhere we want.
Please donate to support my lovely daughter. She is surrounded by so many wonderful people, including her mom, siblings, and friends. Join us in our efforts to create a better tomorrow for Julia!
