We were really excited when we were waiting for our son to come into this world. We had already chosen a name, the room was waiting for a new inhabitant, and we were counting the days to meet him. The day before the birth, I heard a message that literally knocked me off my feet - my son was to be born with a serious disease - spina bifida and most likely with a spinal hernia. It was the moment when the world collapsed.

Back then, We did not know that we were entering the first circle of hell. Shortly after birth, the tender arms of parents were replaced with specialized equipment. With more information we got, we had just one feeling - fear…

Kacper condition was critical, and we were given no hope for the future. The first operation was performed when Kacperek was only one day old... Our later history is mainly through successive wards and endless hospitalization. Although its beginning dates back to 2008, to this day, almost 6 years of Kacper life are prolonged stays in hospitals.

Kacper was 11 month old when he spent the first night in his own bed. Until then, the only known home was the hospital rooms or the terrifying isolation ward. We still remember the moment when the routine surgery almost ended in a tragedy... Performing gastrostomy was supposed to be the last stop before coming home, and yet life was hanging in the balance again. It resulted in peritonitis and sepsis. At one point the doctors said we could go into the room to say goodbye. We couldnt believe it, we felt like we were in a trance - terror tightened our throats and tears ran down our cheeks.

The next steps towards the crib, perhaps subconsciously, we wanted to delay the moment when it turned out that we had lost. Meanwhile, a miracle happened! Kacpers heart started to beat again! Several years have passed and we are fighting for a miracle again!

This one must happen for Kacper to live! At this point, our most serious opponent is scoliosis, which is progressing at an alarming pace. Changes in the spine are a huge threat - if the lungs are crushed, Kacper breathing will stop forever, and then it will be too late for help! We must go to the rescue as long as it is possible, but the only chance for help is an operation at the Dr. Paley Institute in the USA. The treatment will be very complicated, the specialists leave no doubt that the Kacper case is a huge challenge for them. Also for us, because the treatment has been valued at a huge amount - over PLN 2 million! Unimaginable amount for us! The bill we have to pay to save our childs life!

We need help and support! You are our only hope, our last resort! Kacper went through hell - he was treated on the operating table already 35 times! For him, each subsequent operation is a growing threat! I am afraid that the body exhausted by the fight will give up before it can find support. We are hovering on the verge of despair, but we have to try. If we had always feel guilty ...

Kacper, despite adversities, loves life fully! He treats barriers as challenges, effort related to the fight for fitness is his everyday life. Our son is a true warrior and the best we can give him is another chance. The fear of death can disappear if you give us your helping hand! Please, we wont get another chance!
