Cystic fibrosis and bureaucracy are killing Caroline! Medication is needed NOW!

Bureaucracy is killing my daughter! Although the officials have approved the reimbursement of the causative medication for cystic fibrosis, due to procedural issues, it keeps getting postponed! Meanwhile, her condition has worsened! The doctors have put her in a medically induced coma to save her life. We need your help. 

Caroline cannot wait for the reimbursement anymore. Her time is running out.

We have been familiar with cystic fibrosis, a cruel disease that has kept my daughter company for 20 years. When we've heard the diagnosis or rather a sentence, Caroline was just two years old. Since then, she has been treated in Rabka. At first, it was bearable, if you can call it this way. We have even learnt to live with that. Her childhood and adolescence meant tons of medications, percussion, and drainage. Her life was different from her peers, but she has never stopped loving it! 

Unfortunately, it was getting worse year by year. First, we used to have appointments every two years, then once a year, and every couple of months, and every time the results were more disturbing. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic, terminal, and progressive disease. It is ruthless and exhausting every single day! It causes thickened and sticky mucus to form in the body and clog the airways. Furthermore, it results in progressive lung damage (bronchiectasis) and premature death.

The mucus that she cannot get rid of makes her feel as if she melted. It is a constant feeling that will not disappear. Moreover, it is worsening! Can you imagine anything more horrifying? In addition, the bacteria that attack her also make her weak. Lately, we found out that my daughter has a staph infection. Her condition has worsened. Right before Easter, she went to the hospital.

On Easter Saturday, we received a phone call. The doctors said that Caroline agreed to perform a medically induced coma on her. She is very sick. 

She has liver and kidney failure! She keeps fighting for life, and the only solution to save her is to provide her with causative medications. 

We have been waiting for the reimbursement for so long. 

It was supposed to happen at the beginning of March! Meanwhile, the formal procedures are endless. It should finally occur in July. Unfortunately, many patients cannot wait that long. Caroline is among them. How many of them will fail to survive? How many will not live long enough to receive the medication just because the bureaucracy stands in their way? 

The monthly cost of treatment is 80,000 Polish zlotys. We want to raise funds for a 4-month-long therapy to ensure stable condition until the reimbursement. The doctors are fighting for the life of our brave Caroline. She remains in a coma. Please, help us save her!
