Fundraiser description

During the day, I try to provide my wife with the best support. At night, my racing thoughts make it hard to sleep. Today, there's not much left of our happy and peaceful life. Everything fell apart.

At the beginning of 2024, Kasia started having acute headaches. The doctors couldn't find the reason for them, though. One day, the pain was so unbearable that we called an ambulance. In the hospital, her condition suddenly worsened, and she lost consciousness. An urgent, life-saving surgery was necessary. The waiting was endless, and I couldn't take it anymore.

After the procedure, the doctor told me my wife had suffered a stroke, and the prognosis was poor. Kasia could have died in her sleep. I was devastated. The thought of not speaking with my wife ever again was heartbreaking. It all seemed like a bad dream. I couldn't accept such a terrible fate.

Thankfully, after ten days of staying in the coma, Kasia's eyes slowly opened, and she looked at me. At first, it was just a short glance, but as time passed, she stayed awake more and communicated by blinking or a gentle handshake. These little gestures kept me going!

Soon after, Kasia began to breathe without a ventilator. It was a turning point for all of us! We gained hope and strength to continue our battle. We stayed with her every day. We didn't want her to be alone.

Since the end of April 2024, Kasia has stayed in a rehabilitation center. She's making progress, thanks to our efforts. Our whole family stays by her side 24/7, participating in her physical therapy. Kasia is determined and does her best to recover!

Unfortunately, my wife has issues with her eyesight, and she cannot speak or eat independently. She has dysphagia, left hemiplegia, and weakened muscles from being bedridden for an extended period. She requires round-the-clock care.

Before the stroke, Kasia was very active. She worked in several international companies and loved mountain hiking, bicycle riding, sightseeing, and spending time at the seaside. Recently, she started piano lessons. I cannot believe that in one moment, her life changed forever.

The family was always important to Kasia. We have two wonderful children - Mia and Leon, and two dogs. We used to be inseparable and loved spending time together. These days, it's not always possible, though. Our kids miss their mom very much. It's a difficult time for all of us.

We used to handle everything ourselves. This time, we need your help, though. I had to reduce my working hours to care for my wife and children. The expenses are growing, and soon, we will run out of savings. I can no longer afford to pay for expensive treatment, rehabilitation, and transportation. I need your support!  Please help us!

Wojciech, Kasia's husband
