The seizures are unstoppable. The GLIOMA has attacked! We started a fight for Kasia’s life. Help!

🇬🇧 The disease appeared without warning. One day, Kasia suddenly experienced an episode of acute epilepsy, and an ambulance rushed her to the hospital. Before that episode, there had been no signs of a brain tumor.

Previously, we believed that Kasia's greatest challenge had been the accident that left her with a spinal injury. She underwent three surgeries as a result, and she had metal elements installed to stabilize her bones. Now, this new diagnosis overshadows even those difficult times. 

Two weeks ago, our entire family received devastating news – Kasia was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, glioma. 

Surgery to remove the tumor is scheduled for March 17, 2026. According to the doctors, the side effects will include aphasia and paralysis. After three weeks of rehabilitation, however, she should be able to recover. The next step is chemotherapy, followed by radiation therapy.

The situation is serious because Kasia has been living in Spain for years. Despite the support from her local friends, she needs her family. Everything happened so fast, and we had just started discussing who would fly to see her and when. 

Kasia has been staying in the hospital. The seizures are frequent, and she needs to take strong medications to control them. We believe that the brain surgery will make them go away forever and result in Kasia’s recovery. It has to! 

Kasia loved hiking in the mountains. She was also passionate about snowboarding and even became an instructor. We cannot imagine her not pursuing her hobbies anymore. Not descending slopes, leaving the snow dust clouds behind.

The surgery, treatment, and rehabilitation will be very expensive. Since the battle for Kasia’s life has just begun, we are already asking you for support. Any donation means the world to us, and we will be sincerely grateful for it.

🇪🇸La enfermedad llegó de forma totalmente inesperada. Kasia sufrió repentinamente una grave crisis epiléptica. Llamaron a una ambulancia y la trasladaron de inmediato al hospital. Sin embargo, no había habido ningún indicio previo de que algo anduviera mal con su cerebro…

Hasta ahora, pensábamos que la mayor tragedia había sido el día en que Kasia tuvo un accidente que le causó una lesión en la médula espinal. Se sometió a tres cirugías y le implantaron prótesis metálicas para estabilizar sus huesos. Sin embargo, esto no fue suficiente ante semejante diagnóstico.

Hace dos semanas, una noticia devastadora impactó a toda nuestra familia. A Kasia le diagnosticaron un tumor cerebral: un glioma. La cirugía para extirpar el tumor está programada para el 17 de marzo de 2026. Los médicos pronostican que Kasia perderá la voz y quedará paralizada tras la operación. Sin embargo, después de tres semanas de rehabilitación, todo remitirá. El siguiente paso será la quimioterapia, seguida de la radioterapia.

Esta es una situación difícil para nosotros porque Kasia lleva años viviendo permanentemente en España. Aunque cuenta con el apoyo de sus amigos, no es lo mismo que el apoyo familiar. Todo está sucediendo tan rápido que apenas ahora estamos decidiendo quién podrá viajar para verla y cuándo.

Kasia sigue hospitalizada. Sus crisis epilépticas continúan. Necesita medicación fuerte para controlarlas. Confiamos en que esto cambiará después de la cirugía. Confiamos en que recuperará su salud y movilidad. Tiene que hacerlo.

Siempre le ha encantado hacer senderismo en la montaña. También le apasiona el snowboard. Incluso fue instructora. No podemos imaginarla sin volver a sus pasiones, sin subirse a la tabla y levantar una tormenta de nieve mientras se desliza por la pendiente.

La cirugía, el tratamiento y la rehabilitación serán muy costosos. La lucha por Kasia apenas comienza, por eso les pedimos su apoyo ahora. Cada donación significa mucho para nosotros y se lo agradecemos sinceramente.
