Fundraiser description
Konrad is a teenager who was a welding trade school student. In September, he was supposed to start his senior year. In the summer, he received a chance to work abroad to gain some welding experience before returning to school. He departed on the night of August 19, and in the morning, a tragic accident happened!
The car he was driving was hit by a long truck. As a result, the car door was ripped off, and he fell out on the street! He suffered multiple injuries, including a lower cervical spine injury (C3-C7). Konrad was transported to the hospital in Opole. Although he was conscious, his arms and legs became numb. After the surgery, which lasted for a few hours, he was put in a medically induced coma for a couple of days. He was fighting for his life!
When he woke up, it turned out he had suffered from a spinal cord injury that resulted in quadriplegia. He also developed pneumonia that has caused breathing difficulties ever since. Currently, he's been staying in the neurosurgical ICU.
Konrad's life has always been tough. He didn't have a father, and his mother abandoned him when he was only a couple of years old. His grandmother took care of him and his sisters and eventually adopted them. Her daughter and her husband helped her raise them, too.
When Konrad was a teenager, he got into sports - boxing, and motocross, which made his grandma happy. She could finally stop worrying about his future. Unfortunately, the tragic accident ruined all his plans and dreams, so he now focuses only on a battle for recovery. As Konrad's closest and only family, we are worried about his future.
Although we would do everything to enable Konrad's recovery, we cannot afford expensive rehabilitation camps that cost tens of thousands of zlotys! That is why we ask you from the bottom of our hearts to help us. Every little donation matters!
