Save Krzysiu from type 1 diabetes!

Krzysiu is a cheerful boy who is curious about the world and dreams of the future full of joy and carelessness. Unfortunately, recently, we have heard a diagnosis which turned our lives upside down. Krzyś has positive pancreatic autoantibodies which means that in a couple of years, he is going to have type 1 diabetes. This disease is a burden that his 8-year old sister Joanna already has to face every day.

Type 1 diabetes is not just about checking blood sugar levels and administering insulin daily. This disease influences every aspect of life – from diet, through physical activity, to daily well-being and risk of complications. A moment of inattention and too high or too low blood sugar level can lead to consequences endangering one’s life. We know how demanding life with this disease can be as we already experience it with Joasia. We do not want this for Krzysiu.

However, there is hope! The only chance to hinder or even avoid this disease is an innovative therapy. i.e. autologous T-cell transplant. It is a cutting-edge method utilised by remarkable specialists in Gdańsk. This therapy gives a realistic chance to stop the destruction of pancreatic beta cells which are responsible for insulin production.

Tests conducted on other patients show positive results! However, in order for the therapy to be successful, it has to be started as soon as possible – before the disease attacks Krzysiu’s body and leads to irreversible pancreatic damage.

The cost of this treatment is too high and our family is not able to cover it. Each day counts, because time is against Krzysiu. We are not able to raise this exorbitant amount on our own and for this reason, we are asking for your support.

Each zloty and each share gets us closer to saving our son’s life. There is a whole life ahead of Krzyś and it is full of plans and dreams.
