Fundraiser description

When I reminisce about our recent everyday life, I cannot believe it was taken away from us that quickly. Our nightmare began at the end of April 2026, when Krzysztof developed a seemingly ordinary disease.

My husband suffered from a respiratory infection. Unfortunately, the medications he received were ineffective, and after a couple of days, he developed weakness and tingling in his hands and feet.

The weakness started to spread quickly, so we went to the ER in the middle of the night. My husband received IV therapy, which didn’t help. The next day, he lost sensation in his legs. Although he was conscious, he lost control over his body and couldn't move.

The examination results made me go weak at the knees. My husband was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, tetraplegia, and acute respiratory infection, had a PEG tube placed in his stomach, and required being put on a ventilator.

I am terrified! My husband, who’s always been fit, healthy, and energetic, became a person with disabilities and entirely dependent on others in just several hours! He’s been staying in a hospital for a couple of weeks, suffering from constant pain.

Although I know that treatment and rehabilitation will be long and expensive, Krzysiek has a strong will to fight - two years ago, he recovered from a serious illness. I believe that he will win this battle, too.

Krzysiek is an active soldier of the Polish Armed Forces, who has protected our national borders many times and has always helped others. Today, he’s the one who needs help - an intensive rehabilitation!

Only specialized care and regular physical therapy can help my husband recover. Unfortunately, a stay at the rehabilitation center is very expensive, and our family cannot afford it.

This is why I am asking you for support as a mother and a wife. Your donations can save my husband and the beloved father of our teenage daughters. Please give us hope that Krzysiek will eventually reunite with his family, regain his strength, and be able to make at least one step. I will appreciate every kind gesture!

Paulina, Krzysiek’s wife
