Primary school final exam and a fight for life❗️We are raising funds for Lena’s surgery❗️

When our daughter Lena was 11 years old, she was diagnosed with congenital heart defect. The diagnosis came as a shock to us not only because the doctors had never suspected it, but also due to her lifestyle up to this point. Today Lena needs an URGENT surgery – we are asking you to support us in raising funds!

Lena was a very active child, her life was filled with sports and various activities. Regular workouts and a very good physical condition masked the symptoms of abnormal heart function. No one noticed that her heart is different before she was 11 years old. One day, during her workout, she lost consciousness. She was taken to hospital where detailed test were ordered.

On 14 February 2022 we heard the diagnosis – Ebstein's anomaly. It is a very rare disease and accounts for less than 1% of congenital heart defects. This defect is caused by incorrect formation of the tricuspid valve. The symptoms and their severity depend on the extent of regurgitation of this valve and on the size of the right ventricle. In the advanced cases hypoxia, cyanosis and circulatory failure may appear and in the most severe cases it can lead to death. We started a difficult fight.

We consulted Lena’s case with specialists from the most prestigious clinics in the world, including Pittsburgh, Milan and Munich where the surgeons can reconstruct the tricuspid valve using the cone reconstruction technique. It is the best way to fix Lena’s heart and give her a chance to live and be healthy.

Lena has been undergoing diagnostic tests in hospital in Munich for two years as it specialises in this defect and is the most experienced. Unfortunately, the defect has been progressing. The pre-excitation syndrome appeared and the right ventricle has been enlarging.

There is not much time... The surgery was scheduled for 24 June 2025!

Lena is now 13 years old and is an 8-grade student. There is not only the surgery ahead of her but also the primary school final exam, the process of selecting a high school, and most of all, a fight for her life. She is a very ambitious teenager, full of dreams and passion – she loves biology, travelling and playing chess. Her life, full of hope and plans for the future, now depends on the surgery.

Unfortunately, the costs of treatment and of the surgery itself are enormous and we, as parents, are not able to gather the necessary amount. For this reason, we are asking every kind-hearted person to help us.

Each donation, even the smallest one, allows us to get closer to our goal – our daughter’s health. We believe that together we can provide Lena with well deserved future, full of life and joy.
