Fundraiser description
The day a child is born should be the most beautiful one...Unfortunately, when Lilka came into the world, I was accompanied mainly by a crippling fear! The tears of joy were not rolling down my cheeks – I was overcome by the ocean of grief and fear. I am still trying not to drown in it...
I did not hear my daughter’s first cry. The doctors could not hear her heartbeat! I could not hug my Lilyanka as she had to be resuscitated immediately. My little girl had to be intubated, she was so vulnerable... There was nothing I could do...
My daughter won the most important fight for her life but she still suffers the consequences of these events. When she was one year old, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. I did what I could to support her development and mobility. Despite all my efforts, Lilyanka’s progress was not significant and I was concerned about her behaviour! I started looking for help again.
I had been waiting for the next diagnosis for almost 5 years! I was worried that Lila had been continuously repeating sentences and asking about the same things. She was confusing names of people, animals and objects. When she is emotionally aroused she bites and pinches herself and it does not matter if she is angry or happy... My heart is broken when I see her injured arms. I am devastated because I know that the autism she was diagnosed with is going to accompany Lila for her whole life.
Lilyanka is under the care of a psychologist and speech therapist but in a very limited scope – I simply cannot afford more intensive therapy! I buy special sensory toys for her in order to regulate her nervous system. Additionally, due to cerebral palsy and difficulties in everyday life resulting from it, my daughter needs systematic rehabilitation, hippotherapy and exercises at the swimming that strengthen her muscles. I would also like to provide her with a rehabilitation session for the children with autism.
There are many kinds of specialised therapies that together with rehabilitation will offer Lilyanka a good life. Unfortunately, the costs are not affordable for a common human being...each day of delay takes away my daughter’s chance for a better daily life. And for this chance for Lila I am asking You with all my heart...
