The disease has damaged my nervous system - I cannot eat or speak❗️Help me fight for therapy-my hope for a better future!

My name is Maciej, and I used to be a healthy, fit student at the Military University of Technology. When I turned 20, however, my life changed unexpectedly.

It all started with seemingly innocent symptoms. In the fall of 2019, I developed an upper respiratory infection, which not only didn’t go away with medication, but also led to new symptoms, such as speech disorder and dysphagia.

Despite numerous consultations with specialists and various examinations, I wasn’t given a diagnosis. I was told I might have SLA or polyneuropathy, which are two radically different conditions. I was terrified… I felt my adult life was over before it had actually begun. I had to give up school, my favorite activities, and all my hobbies.  

I also developed weakness in my arms and muscle atrophy. The disease caused severe damage to the central nervous system, which I hadn’t been aware of for many years. The diagnosis remains ambiguous, although the doctors have managed to stop its progression with steroids. Unfortunately, the previous CNS injuries cannot be reversed…

Because of my swallowing difficulties, I am fed through a PEG tube. I’ve also lost the ability to speak, and I can communicate only through handwriting. My upper limb mobility is limited, so my daily functioning has become a challenge. Currently, I have been classified with a severe disability level and require my parents’ assistance with many everyday activities.

Today, I not only want to share my story with you. I also want to ask you for help. For the first time in years, I’ve felt I was given a second chance - I have been offered an experimental stem cell therapy, which can improve my health and overall functioning. Unfortunately, it’s expensive and exceeds our financial capabilities.

This is why I decided to ask you for support. Every donation will help me finance the treatment, which offers a chance to regain physical abilities. For the first time in years, I have a chance for a better future - please help me fight for my health!
