Help for Maja!

Many doctors did not give my daughter Maja a chance to survive, not even a year. She is five years old and just wants to live. Maja was born with a severe developmental defect called Goldenhar Syndrome. My daughter has a heart defect, a tumor in her eye, a deep hearing loss and a distorted ear. When she was born, my husband and I were terrified. There was no specialist, which we would not go to. The worst thing for me was knowing Maja could not hear me. She does not know what I am saying to her, nor how I sound.

But even worse was the ignorance of doctors, who could not tell me what would happen next with Maja. How will she grow, will her disease develop, will she ever be able to hear? Throughout  the year we scoured from doctor  to doctor, usually paying out of pocket, but still nobody was able to help us. The one thing everyone kept repeating was that the ear surgery would only be possible when Maja turns 14. Over a few years, it turned out that my daughter had only a hearing loss. She goes to kindergarten, is a very happy girl and bravely deals with other people's expressions and comments. I have been looking for opportunities of help for her all the time. I finally found one in the United States. American doctors are able to help Maja. They proposed a complex surgery to remove the tumor from the eye, reconstruct the auricle and the jaw, and then a long-term rehabilitation. Without your help we will not be able to achieve this!

Maja kann normal leben! Dafür braucht sie eine kostspielige Operation in den USA! Viele Ärzte haben behauptet, daß Maja das erste Lebensjahr nicht überlebt. Sie hat aber ihren 5 Geburtstag gerade gefeiert und will weiter leben. Maja ist mit einem Goldenhar Syndrom geboren. Unsere kleine Tochter hat einen Herzfehler, einen Augentumor, kann fast gar nichts hören und ihr Ohr und Gesicht sind Deformiert. Als sie geboren wurde, waren wir erschrocken. Es gab keinen Facharzt, an dem wir uns wenden könnten. Am schlimmsten war die Tatsache, dass Maja uns nicht hört. Sie weiß nicht, was wir ihr sagen, wie klingen unsere Stimmen. Noch erschreckender war die Tatsache, dass die Ärzte nicht wussten, wie es mit Maja weiter geht. Wie wird sie sich entwickeln, wird ihre Krankheit weiter fortschreiten, wird sie irgendwann hören können?

Ein ganzes Jahr Ärzteodyssee, alles selber bezahlt, aber niemand konnte uns helfen. Alle haben nur wiederholt, dass man erst mit 14 Jahren eine Rekonstruktion des Ohres durchführen könnte. In letzten Jahren hat sich herausgestellt, dass unsere Tochter „nur“ eine schwere Hörschwäche hat. Sie besucht den Kindergarten, ist ein sehr aufgewecktes Mädchen und mit großer Tapferkeit erträgt sie die Blicke und Kommentare anderer Menschen. Und nach andauernder Suche, haben wir Hilfe in den USA gefunden. Amerikanische Ärzte sind in der Lage, Maja zu helfen. Vorgeschlagen wurde eine komplizierte Entfernung des Augentumors, Rekonstruktion des Ohres und Kiefers und danach langwierige Rehabilitation. Wir schaffen es nur dank Eurer Hilfe!
