Cyclone Freddy kills again❗️Let’s save its victims from Malawi

Fear, suffering and unimaginable damages... In March 2023, Cyclone Freddy killed over a thousand people (including approximately 450 Malawians) in Southeast Africa.

“In the current dramatic situation, in which the local people found themselves, we are asking all good-hearted people for help and to participate in the active humanitarian activities. We are running out of strength, there is no potable water, food, tents, clothes, blankets...”.

It is the third edition of the fundraiser “We fight hunger in Africa”. This time we dedicated it to children and poor families in Malawi, including the victims of Cyclone Freddy. Dorota Pichowicz, a Tonga Heritage volunteer who co-operates with the Children of Africa Foundation, asked for help for the victims of the flood caused by Cyclone Freddy;

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) informed that the cyclone has impacted over 500 000 people". Additionally, more than 183 100 were resettled. The same report says that many areas have become unavailable. “In Malawi, over 280 000 children urgently need humanitarian aid, and the situation may become even more tragic. There is a risk that the current cholera outbreak will spread and children will be the most vulnerable to this crisis” highlighted Fungma Fudong, UNICEF spokeswoman.

Previous editions of the fundraiser were successful.
Children and poor families from Chad have been benefiting from our help for a couple of months now. This help is spread over time and provided gradually, in co-operation with the Franciscan Sisters of the Suffering. Soon, our help will also reach children and poor families in the Central African Republic, this time through the Good Shepherd Sisters. We believe that in a couple of weeks also the people in need in Malawi will receive our support in terms of buying food and potable water.

“To eliminate extreme poverty and hunger” and “to provide humanitarian aid”, these are the main statutory purposes of the Children of Africa Foundation. Due to our 14 years of experience gained by through various activities in Africa, and verified and trusted contacts, we can reach every place which is in need of help. Thanks to our co-operation with Polish missionaries and verified local partners who allow us to use our resources properly (without the need to employ third parties), we can help satisfy the basic needs concerning food when it comes to children and poor families.
