Marcin is a wonderful father of two teenage daughters, a beloved husband and a loyal friend. He is always close to people and always accompanied by a smile on his face. Good sense of humour, love for good food, spending time with friends and travels ‒ this is Marcin whom we know and love!
He is also a person who has helped many people and with a smile on his face, he has helped solve many problems in his family’s and friend’s lives, as well as at work. As a highly qualified IT expert, he has helped many companies implement complicated projects. Now he is the one in need of IMMEDIATE support and help!
This May he was diagnosed with refractory lymphoma in an advanced stage. There were no symptoms of the disease and it was diagnosed by coincidence. Shock and anxiety became a part of our family’s daily life. Fortunately, we met a wonderful team of haematologists from the University Clinical Hospital of the Medical University of Warsaw.
During a cancer case conference, it was agreed that additional treatment should be implemented apart from the standard therapy reimbursed by NFZ. It was decided that apart from chemotherapy and stem cell therapy, Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors should be added to the therapy. The medicine is called IMBRUVICA (560 mg) and it is used as a part of standard treatment in the USA and many EU countries.
Currently, it is not reimbursable, and the cost of one package is above forty thousand zlotys and we already know that we will need more than one... This medicine may significantly improve the patient’s preparation for a bone marrow transplant, and according to research (e.g. American TRIANGLE research) and doctors, it prolongs the duration of the remission that may appear after the first line of treatment. The treatment is difficult but we hope to win! We will do everything in order for our father, husband and friend to start the fight against this complicated disease.
For this reason, we decided to ask for your help in raising the funds for the non-reimbursable therapy, rehabilitation and recovering after the transplant. For each gesture, help, prayer and for accompanying us in this difficult time – we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
