Mariusz had a stroke during a children’s birthday party – we are fighting for his life❗️

In our family, we used to say that Mariusz always landed on his feet, achieved whatever he wanted, and was skilled like MacGyver. But he's not anymore. The man we all love and admire is no longer with us... We want to do our best to make him come back to us.  

Mariusz, or Mario for friends, is 37. He is an amazing dad to 5-year-old Piotr and 8-year-old Kacper and a fantastic husband, brother, son, and friend. He's hard-working, creative, wise, and loyal.

On May 13, our peaceful, happy life ended. Mariusz drove our youngest son to the kids’ birthday party, where he collapsed and suffered a transient ischemic attack followed by an ischemic stroke. The reason was a carotid dissection! How did it happen? Mariusz had a healthy lifestyle and no chronic illnesses. The doctors asked me if he had suffered an injury. I had no recollection of that, though. 

Later, multiple complications occurred. 

The doctors did everything they could to save him. However, he seemed to be out of luck... They couldn't remove the blood clot via surgery or medications due to the elevated risk of rupture of the dissected artery. Unfortunately, the cerebral edema became life-threatening. Surgery was required to remove part of the skull. Mario was placed in a medically induced coma. Although the doctors stopped the medications some time ago, he hasn't woken up since... 

Mariusz remains in critical condition. Despite severe brain damage caused by brain ischemia, we are fighting for him to regain consciousness. Thankfully, the doctors approved his transfer to a private neurological rehabilitation center. 

A 4-week stay in the facility costs 26,000 zlotys, plus a special diet and many other expenses. The rehabilitation process is going to be long. If you want to join us in our battle, please donate. Any support will be much appreciated. Mariusz has never given up, and neither do we! 

Our whole family fights for his recovery and visits him every day. His children, wife, siblings, parents, friends, desk at work, and construction plans wait for him. So does a present for the 10th wedding anniversary waiting for him. There must be a happy ending! He must wake up! We are devastated but believe that there's still hope for Mariusz.
