Let's help Marta!

Marta - my sister - is going through the most terrible moments of her life.. After 2 years of trying for a baby, she got pregnant, we all thought that the most beautiful, dream time was ahead of her. However, unexpectedly, she found out that she has a cancer... Malignant cancer. First she was faced with a dramatic choice, and now she is fighting for her life...

She has already had gynaecological problems - probably because of polycystic ovary syndrome, it was so difficult for Marta to get into her dream life pregnancy.

Fortunately, after hormonal treatment, it worked! How happy she was that time...

Subsequent tests came out well, the baby grew and developed healthily. However, things started to go wrong with Marta. She had a lot of pain in one breast. More and more - the pain became unbearable. She couldn't take any pain pills, and no home remedies helped. The doctors suggested pregnancy problems with the breasts - milk retention, inflammation.

For peace of her mind, Marta decided to undergo oncological tests. Of course, no one predicted the worst diagnosis – actually, it was supposed to be only preventive... unfortunately the diagnosis turned out to be devastating. Malignant breast cancer. Shocking. It was the beginning of November, 5th month of pregnancy.

Marta was given a choice - to terminate the pregnancy and immediately start treatment, very much so risking the life of her unborn son, or wait. Together with the doctor, she has decided to wait until the 35th week of pregnancy. Then her son got much more chances to survive... but the same Marta's chances had decreased.

It was a very difficult period. On the one hand, the awareness that the cancer is raging unstoppable. On the other hand, waiting until the baby is safe outside the mother's body.

A nightmare that is very difficult even to imagine...

As well as the pain – was more and more... In the end it becomes unbearable. But Marta managed.

On December 12, a healthy Kubuś was born by caesarean section. A ray of happiness. However, my sister didn't have even time to recover because she had to start fighting for her life...

Unfortunately, we are already in the beginning of January, second month after the diagnosis and still due to very poor blood results chemotherapy treatment cannot be implemented... Marta is in the hospital, the doctors are doing everything they can to improve her condition and fight with the cancer and metastases that have already occurred.

During this time, the whole family is involved in taking care of Kubuś. His dad had to go back to work, and someone has to be with Marta as well. We cope the best we can…

This is actually just the beginning of the difficult fight for Marta’s life. How the treatment will look like remains to be seen... And of course how much it will cost in total. At the moment, we estimate all additional costs at PLN 15 000 per month. It's a huge amount, so we have decided to ask for help for Marta. Additionally, there are extremely expensive genetic tests which are not refund, all we have to cover by ourselves. We don't know what else can appear, we need to be prepared for everything.

We would like to ask you to join to the our fight for Marta's health and life. The strength to her gives Kubuś, whom she misses very much... She was waiting for him for so long... Now she cannot enjoy him…
