Fundraiser description

Thanks to you, Marta, 35, has undergone a successful surgery and a long, complex treatment!

"Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for saving my life! I am moved to tears by the amount of support you have offered me. I am grateful to you every day! Unfortunately, I still need your help.

I require another surgery, which will be the final stage of my treatment, and also dental prosthesis, and rehabilitation. I have a long path to recovery ahead of me!

As you know, I was previously treated elsewhere by premolar extraction and fixed appliances. Although it slightly compensated for the dental discrepancy, it contributed to serious health issues, making the new multidisciplinary approach more challenging for me and the physicians. If it hadn't been for the surgery, my sleep apnea would have become fatal.

Due to my worsening medical and dental condition, I required urgent and more advanced treatment. By multidisciplinary team decision, I underwent surgery after the initial orthodontic preparation. The procedure involved bimaxillary counter-clockwise advancement with rhinoplasty and advancement genioplasty. I am grateful to the experienced and empathetic maxillofacial surgeon, Dr Maciej Jagiellak, who saved me from a critical situation.

However, I am still under medical and orthodontic care. Unfortunately, at the moment, I no longer have the financial means to continue and complete the treatment, which requires undergoing a second surgery: hyoid suspension to support the tongue, enabling mobility and functions such as swallowing, breathing, proper chewing, and speaking, as well as platysma (neck muscle) reduction. This surgery is crucial for stable and effective movements of the head and neck, as well as for the protection and support of vital functions.

Time is running out - surgery under general anesthesia is planned for July-August 2024.
