Campaign description

The moment the Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border, it was clear that we witnessed the outbreak of war. In such situations, the most vulnerable and powerless people are always the ones who suffer. We cannot leave the people of Ukraine without help!

The Russian aggressor has no mercy for the Ukrainian nation. Again, there has been shelling and raiding Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and other cities of Ukraine. As expected, the missiles of the invader have been aiming at houses, apartment buildings, and institutions, and destroying the latter has paralysed the whole country.

On Monday evening, the Russian army launched a rocket missile, which destroyed the maternity ward near Kyiv. Fortunately, no one was killed, but the entire building is gone. Tens of women and babies were placed in a temporary shelter in the basements. The new moms and newborns should not experience the trauma of explosions and enormous stress.

Every assault made on the staff of healthcare centres is against the rules of international law and Geneva Conventions. The Russians seem to ignore it since there have been new, horrifying information coming up every day. The newborn care ward has been functioning in the hospital basements in the Dnieper, and children from oncology wards have been hiding in the corridors of the bombed hospitals.

In this terrible reality, the worst thing is that the medications, bandages, drips, and infusion sets will be missing soon. In some places, the band-aids and bandages are being replaced with stripes of fabric. Currently, the most required supplies are surgical threads, bandages, dressings, and surgical equipment.  We have contacted the Ministry of Health in Ukraine, through which we will provide the hospitals with the necessary materials and medications.

We cannot remain indifferent! Urgent support is needed!
