Fundraiser description

It's hard to believe it's been almost 2 years. And yet, October 3, 2018 was the day when Micheal for the last time sent the children to school and preschools, went to work, stood next to us, laughed and talked. The last time he said “I’ll call you later”. Today we are fighting to get back as much as it is possible from what that afternoon took away from our family.

We are here again to ask for your help. Our only chance and hope is intensive rehabilitation as well as Michał's strength and motivation to go through it all. We are doing everything we can to keep his go on and believe that this extremely difficult fight make sense. Unfortunately, we can not provide rehabilitation ourselves, we cannot afford it. Long months of treatment, rehabilitation and care for Michael cost a huge amount of money, so once again we ask you to support Michael and us in the battle for a better tomorrow for our family.

The time that Michael spent on rehabilitation in Krakow also thanks to the donors of siepomaga brought us a huge breakthrough in the form of establishing contact. Then we found out that Michael not only hears and understands, but also remembers, reads and tries to follow orders. We managed to develop communication methods using the hand and its various movements. We did not miss the "traditional" aspects of such a difficult rehabilitation - numerous infections or post-traumatic epilepsy which made our fight looking like two steps forward and one and a half back. We really want to believe that the worst is behind us, and that now, when we know “our enemies” we can fight them better.

Currently, Michael continues his rehabilitation in the modern rehabilitation center. He can hold his head and move it by himself, he can breathe without a tracheo tube, he eats more and more on his own, he is able to make his own voice, and with the help of therapists also sounds or syllables. She is finally able to smile gently.
We are happy with and grateful for each progress and we are looking forward to the next ones. Slowly, facial expressions reappear, feeling in the arms and legs returns. Michael can raise his head and shoulders while lying down. He regained the weight he had lost in the first months, and thanks to intense exercise, also his muscles. Thanks to his strength and the care of his relatives, he rebuilt his immunity. The heart, weakened by the massive embolism that occurred shortly after the stroke, also regenerated. It all resulted in a huge improvement in the body's performance. Today, Michael can spend a long time in a sitting position or exercise in vertical positions. Everything has changed during these 2 years, except for Michałe’s eyes. It is thanks to the eyes that we know  he is still the same Michael. That is also why we want him even more to be able to break out of the prison, that his disabled body became.

We have a long way to go. As long as Michael fights, tries and doesn’t give up, we do not wonder if it is difficult or not. He fights, we fight too. Every time I ask him, Michael replies with his hand the same: I want and will fight.

Michael will be celebrating his birthday at the end of September. In this difficult pandemic time, he will spend this day without his loved ones. For the safety of patients, the rehabilitation center has been completely closed to visitors since March. Two years pass, during which the children and I had to deal not only with the pain and longing, but also with everyday life without our Michael. Six months have passed since we can't even visit him. However, it was Michael who had to remain the bravest of us all and we are grateful to him for every day of his fight not only for himself but for all of us. And we know that he fight with omething unimaginable.

We wholeheartedly ask: pleas help us in this fight by giving Michael the possibility of further rehabilitation. Please help us so one day we could celebrate Michael’s birthday, which will be filled not with longing for what is lost but with happiness and joy from what we have regained.

Agnieszka - Michael’s wife.
