Our son was sentenced: brain cancer! We are asking for help, each zloty matters❗️

Until recently Michał was exploring the world with joy – he used to ride a bike, trek in the mountains, play chess, laugh and play with his brother. Currently, he spends his days in hospital, with drips, paresis and pain, he is fighting against cancer. Fighting for his life! We are asking for support. Michał is only 8 years old, he has to live!

It started inconspicuously, with a headache. He underwent a detailed diagnostics as his symptoms became more frequent and persistent. The tests revealed something that none of us expected: brain cancer – medulloblastoma. Our world fell apart.

We could not believe this was happening. How is this possible? One moment ago, our son played, laughed and enjoyed his childhood and now, suddenly, he is an oncological patient? A patient who has to fight for his life...

During an urgent surgery, most of the tumour was resected. Unfortunately, the cancer has already spread to cerebrospinal fluid – and this means the highest level of risk. The latest results indicated a cancer with much worse prognosis and a greater chance of recurrence. We need the most advanced therapy...

This fight will be long and strenous but a standard therapy may not be enough. We need to co-operate with experts, who specialise in treating difficult cases of medulloblastoma, from the whole world in order to save Michał. We are considering treatment in Rome, Germany and in the United States of America but we have to wait for the results of molecular tests. The decision will be based on these results.

Unfortunately, we already know that in each case, his therapy is going to be extremely expensive.

Currently, Michał is struggling with paralysis of the left side of his face and left hand, he is suffering because of speech, balance and sight disorders, and  living with pain and fear – but can still smile … This is the only thing that keeps us going… 

Our son is aware that he is very ill but he does not know the consequences of the disease. We are trying to protect him because we know that once he gives up and stops fighting, the disease will win!

There is a long and difficult road ahead of our warrior: very aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy cycles. Michał needs rehabilitation and neurological and psychological support. Each day is a fight. Each zloty is hope. We are begging, please help us save Michał’s childhood. Give him a chance to live without pain, to return to school and to climb another mountain… We cannot do it without your help.
