Save Mike's ear! He has a chance for treatment in the USA!

We couldn't wait to welcome Mikey into this world. We didn't expect he would face such a terrible fate, though. A congenital ear defect turned his childhood upside down, forcing him to visit hospitals and doctors. Our beloved son keeps asking us whether his ear ever grows back. 

My pregnancy was perfect. There were no indications that Mikey would be born with an underdeveloped right ear. We were devastated. Our racing thoughts made it hard for us to sleep. We were worried - would our child be able to hear at all? 

We started the diagnostics immediately, although it took several years to perform selected tests.

Eventually, we received the diagnosis - microtia - underdeveloped auricle, and atresia - closure of the ear canal. As a result, Mikey required a bone-conduction hearing aid. 

The treatment and rehabilitation were successful. Our son's facial asymmetry has reduced, and his hearing device works properly. Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan - Mikey has recently developed a chronic infection in his left ear. 

It affects communication between us and causes Mike's hearing loss. We must stop that! The doctors warn us if the treatment fails, our son will require surgery! 

We're afraid such an invasive procedure might result in Mike's deafness! 

We want to offer our child nothing but the best. He's the apple of our eyes! He loves drawing, building blocks, running, jumping, and playing football. He's learning horse riding and climbing that help improve his balance - due to his ear defect, he's prone to labyrinthitis. 

Mikey is going through a difficult time now. Sadly, people's cruel comments make it worse. We love and support our son very much! 

Our nightmare will be over after he undergoes surgery in the USA!
