Save Mieszko’s vision! We only have a month!

The surgery is scheduled for April! It is the only chance to help our son. Without treatment, Mieszko may lose vision! We are begging for help, our time is scarce!

We have been looking for help for a very long time... When Mieszko is crying, one of his eyes is bulging. Doctors did not see this problem... But the teachers from kindergarten have noticed that after crying, one of Mieszko’s eyelids is swollen.

The disease was difficult to diagnose for many years. A hidden malformation, invisible to the naked eye, was noticed in 2024 during an MRI scan.  After many tests performed by many specialists, we received the final diagnosis: a congenital disease – lymphatic malformation. A very rare condition. I have searched many Internet forums and managed to find only one patient with malformation in an orbit living in Poland. 

Mieszko’s vessels are malformed, dilated and their shape is irregular. Their abnormal structures may be damaged causing heavy bleeding at times. Without treatment, it may lead to organ necrosis and failure. This means that they have to be removed. Malformations grow proportionally with the child. They never disappear.

I was looking for help everywhere... I wrote more than one hundred e-mails to various specialists… I cannot imagine Mieszko without his vision... Our son’s case is difficult, because the malformation is hidden deep behind the eyeball.

I came to a conclusion that I will not rest until I find help. After many negative answers, there was finally a success! I found a specialist who was ready to help our son. When we received the answer from a clinic in Germany, I felt relief and also fear that we may not be able to raise the funds. We only have a month… The treatment is scheduled for 15.04.2025.
