19-year-old Natalie suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm! Please help her recover!

Natalie suffered a sudden rupture of a brain aneurysm on her nineteenth birthday! There has been an ongoing fight for the health of a young girl! Please read about the  devastating story told by her mom and help Natalie:

On 24 March 2021, on Natalie’s birthday, a dramatic event took place. She suddenly lost consciousness. After the ambulance took her to the hospital, we heard the diagnosis: a large intracerebral hematoma between the frontal and left temporal lobe. Her condition was extremely serious!

She was transferred from the hospital in Polanica to the neurosurgery unit in Wałbrzych. The doctors attempted to perform embolization of arteriovenous malformations. Unfortunately, since the hematoma was localized in unreachable areas, it could not be removed. 

After a failed surgery, Natalie was transferred to the ICU in an extremely serious condition. She was put in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator due to her respiratory insufficiency.  

She used to be a healthy, active girl! In one brief moment, her life turned into a battle to survive…

At first, she was treated with medications to prevent cerebral edema. However, Natalie’s condition was worsening, and the doctors provided us with dramatic news day by day.   

After another CT, due to the progression of brain swelling, the doctors decided to perform a decompressive craniectomy, which was a life-saving surgery!

Natalie was in a medically induced coma for a month. It was the longest and the most difficult time in our lives. 

The prognosis was disastrous. The doctors kept telling us that we should be prepared for the worst scenario. However, we knew that our daughter was strong, that she would get back to us, and that we as parents would do everything we could to help her recover. 

On 1 May she was discharged from the hospital and since then she has required intensive neurological rehabilitation and neurological speech therapy. She’s been working hard to defeat left hemiplegia and aphasia. Due to the enormous cost of daily, hour-long exercises and speech therapy, we are asking for your support to enable recovery for our child. 

Natalie is a beautiful, wise, and ambitious young woman. She has a lot of hobbies and loves her life. She admires horses and has enjoyed horseback riding since she was a little girl. She’s planning to devote her life to equestrian and wants to pursue physical therapy for horses. Unfortunately, the brain hematoma made it impossible. She was just about to graduate high school and enter adulthood when the hemorrhage occurred.

Currently, Natalie has been on a journey to recovery thanks to her wonderful therapists, who take care of her every day. It is a long, tedious, and expensive process. We are proud of her progress, however, we do realize that there is still so much work to be done to bring back her physical abilities and skills that would allow her to communicate with her family, friends, and the rest of the world.
