Fundraiser description
Each days is filled with fear for our son. The fight for his life and safety begins anew each day. Dozens of doctor’s appointments, filled prescriptions and further tests give us sleepless nights...
It all started with autism and epilepsy. When Nicklas was an infant, we noticed that he was developing differently than most of the children. He had severe problems with sleeping and eating, was crying a lot and did not communicate with us at all. There were also sensory disorders, aggression and self-aggression.
We booked a consult with psychiatrist and in Psychological and Pedagogical Counselling Centre. Specialists were in agreement about the diagnosis. Unfortunately, soon it also turned out that our son was suffering from epilepsy. Attacks are not very often, but they are really intensive. Sometimes life-threatening apnoea appears!
For this reason, Nicklas is under constant care of a neurologist. He also takes medicines but there are constant issues in this field. He often has allergic reactions or experiences very severe side effects. They are usually so intensive that doctor’s help is needed. Unfortunately, due to the difficulty in selecting the appropriate medication, attacks still happen. And each attack comes with great fear for our son...
However, we cannot give up. We are trying to provide Nicklas with the best care and support. We know that he needs our help. Our son has to cope with sensory integration disorders and eye-hand coordination disorder. There are also visual and auditory attention limitations.
For this reason, he needs rehabilitation and sensory integration therapy – with a therapist and with us at home, with proper equipment. He also needs regular consultations with an orthopaedist as his feet are not properly positioned.
Unfortunately the costs are becoming too high for our household budget. We will be very grateful for your support. Each zloty can help change our son’s life!
