Campaign goal: To support people suffering from thrombosis complications
Campaign description
One in four people worldwide is dying from conditions caused by thrombosis. In Poland, annually, ca. 100,000 people learn they have it...
You can be at risk, too!
On the 15th anniversary of Kamila Skolimowska's death, a foundation created in her memory launched a social campaign to raise awareness about the disease that took our youngest Olympic champion's life.
Kamila was a top Polish sports champion. Unfortunately, despite her great physical fitness, she died suddenly at age 27 from a pulmonary embolism resulting from unrecognized thrombosis.
Thrombosis can quickly turn into a medical emergency.
In 50% of cases, it can go unnoticed and lead to sudden death from pulmonary embolism, like in Kamila Solimowska's case.
The Kamila Skolimowska Foundation and siepomaga.pl have launched a campaign to raise funds for people suffering from thrombosis complications. 100% of the donations will support the beneficiaries of the Foundation.
The campaign motto - “Don't let thrombosis hold you back” - also warns of one of the top three cardiovascular killers.
"If Kamila had been diagnosed early and started treatment on time, she would be alive today. We want the anniversary of her passing to be the thrombosis prevention and early detection day. The idea for the campaign launched in February" came from Kamila's father and Foundation president, Robert Skolimowski. "We want as many people with thrombosis as possible who cannot afford prevention and treatment to receive a chance for recovery. It is why we have started a cooperation with theSiepomaga Foundation."
The campaign is yet another way to honor this extraordinary athlete.
On August 25, at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, the 15th Kamila Skolimowska Memorial will take place.
It is a big athletic competition organized since 2009 to honor the youngest Polish Olympic champion and the first high-level and most prestigious sports event in Polish history after The Olympics and World Championships. This year's event will take place in 15 locations worldwide, including, for the third time, Chorzów, with Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial.
