Fundraiser description
The joy of waiting for a miracle, in this case the birth of our child, is mixed with fear. This is our feeling every day since we found out that our unborn daughter has a fatal heart defect. Now Ola is safe in tummy of her Mom, but right after her birth she will start to fight for her life. We want to save our child, which is why we ask for your help! Sometimes life gives us a hard test, sometimes even several times. Fate especially likes to test us. This is not the first time we were afraid for a child's life. When 4 years ago it turned out that we were expecting a son, we were crazy with joy. Unfortunately, Adaś was born too early. He was tiny, he weighed a little more than 1 kilogram. When other parents hugged their babies, we could only visit Adam in intensive care. Our son became ill with sepsis, but he fought for his life and fortunately he survived. He is our little miracle. It is thanks to him that we began to think about expanding our family.
When it turned out that we were expecting a baby again, the memories came back. Joy was mixed with fear. We only dreamed about one thing - that our next child would be born healthy, and at the right time. This time it was supposed to be a daughter! Subsequent results and tests showed that the pregnancy was developing properly. The doctors were calm, so we believed that everything must be fine… until the next prenatal examination. Doctors then shared with us their diagnosis - a serious heart defect. Time stood still, we didn't know what to say, what to do. At first we could only cry. It initially seemed like a simple defect that could be corrected with surgery. Unfortunately, after a thorough examination of Ola's heart, the cardiologist had more bad news for us - a very complex heart defect combined with an inversion of the viscera. We still hear the doctor's words in our heads “in the case of premature delivery, the baby will not survive”. If Ola is born on time, she will have to have immediate life-saving surgery. Instead of completing the layette, looking for a stroller and rompers, we were looking for solutions, doctors, and contacts for parents of other sick children. We received great support from other parents and almost all say that the best clinic to specialize in this kind of heart defect is in Munster, Germany. An excellent team of cardiac surgeons work there, headed by Professor Edward Malec. There, children with the most sick hearts can be saved - children who would not have a chance to survive elsewhere! More than half of the DILV type heart defects are accompanied by additional, unforeseen complications. They can be diagnosed only after birth. That's why Ola must be in the best hands from the beginning.
"I love you, my sister, I'm waiting for you," says Adaś to the tummy in which Ola is in. Emotion mixes with pain. Will he be able to tell her that really? The clock is ticking relentlessly, and we have to collect a huge sum of money to pay for Ola's first surgery in Germany. We don’t have a lot of time - 35th week of pregnancy has just begun! The operation is scheduled for November 9th.
We really need your help, and your kind-heartedness. We pray to God not only for a miracle, but also for your support.
Our unborn Ola need your help to live !
