Help for Oliwia!

Oliwia is 11-years old girl. She was born with congenital femoral deficiency and inborn deformities of hip joint and knee joint. Her disease makes her femur does not grow normally, so that as Oliwia grows, the difference in her leg length increases. In 2013, Oliwka started treatment with Dr. Dror Paley in the USA.

In order to avoid the amputation of her leg, at the age of 3 she underwent extensive, many hours of operations to reconstruct the joints damaged by the disease, which enabled them to become functional and prepared her for the next stages of treatment - lengthening the femur.

The last 8 years of Oliwka's life were 6 surgical procedures at Dr. Paley's clinic in the USA and at the Hospital of Grucy in Otwock. Countless hours of rehabilitation, dozens of X-ray pictures, a lot of pain, scars that will remain for the rest of her life. Thanks to previous procedures, it was possible to save the leg from amputation, and to extend the femur by 16 cm.

Eight years have passed since the last reconstruction of the hip joint, during this time Oliwka has grown a lot and, unfortunately, another surgery on the hip joint is necessary to be able to safely continue lengthening the femur. Currently, the difference in the length of the legs is 8 cm. The cost of the reconstruction of the joint, extension of the femur and postoperative rehabilitation is USD 95,000.

Oliwka is a cheerful teenager who tries to overcome her limitations caused by her illness every day and to function like her peers. He loves all sports activities, regularly swims and trains basketball. Her greatest passion is painting, and she develops her skills in this field.
