We learned about Pawełek's illness during the pregnancy. At that time, we didn't realize how demanding an opponent we would face, but one thing was certain – we knew we would do everything possible to ensure our son had the best possible development.

Pawełek was born with a soft palate cleft, hypokinesia of the heart muscle, and Pierre-Robin sequence. He was diagnosed during prenatal testing, which at that time involved high costs that we had to cover.

From the very beginning, Paweł's condition made breastfeeding and bottle-feeding impossible. Due to anatomical difficulties and a disrupted sucking reflex, feeding is incredibly difficult and exhausting for him – sometimes it takes about half a day.

At 3 weeks old, Pawełek developed pneumonia, which weakened him so much that feeding could only be done through a nasogastric tube, and the fight to leave the hospital without a tube lasted 3 weeks.

We are under the care of a range of specialists, and our schedule is often filled with many different consultations. Ahead of us is a long, hard work with a neurologist and a physiotherapist, whose goal is to improve Pawełek's functioning, so that in the future he can eat, speak, and develop normally.
