Let's save Peter's health

The disease struck out of nowhere. By no means could we prepare for what has happened. A deadly threat. An extremely dangerous opponent. The cause of our fear, tears, suffering and many sleepless nights. The relentless fight left countless scars on Piotrek's health. Today, in order to regain what has been lost due to the illness, we need as much rehabilitation for Piotrek as possible. Sadly, the rehabilitation is equally as effective as it is costly. 

My son was about to take his school final exams. He planned on graduating and going to university. Then, everything came to a sudden stop and Piotrek had to abandon all of his plans and dreams. Last August, he unexpectedly lost the ability to walk. It turned out that my son had a tumour in his spinal canal. Soon, the worst possibility proved to be true: my son was diagnosed with b-cell lymphoma which affected his peripheral nervous system. There was no doubt that the treatment will be extremely hard. 

The hospital all of a sudden became our home. Despite undergoing an immediate medical procedure, the paresis of Piotrek’s legs and spine didn't go away. He also underwent chemotherapy which made him feel very unwell. Everyday I saw how much he suffered, though there was nothing I could do. There is no worse situation that a mother can be put into... If that hadn’t been enough, my son's condition was additionally worsened by sepsis.

It was a frightening time for the whole family, though we hope the worst is long gone and only the better is yet to come. The latest diagnostic tests show that the disease is in a state of retreat. Currently, my son's biggest dream is to get back on his feet. It’s only been a couple of weeks since he started to move his legs and now, with some help from other people, he's able to sit on the bed and get dressed. The rehabilitation clearly shows impressive results and step by step, we are heading towards the recovery. 

Piotrek is at the beginning of a long journey that hopefully leads to him regaining his full health. We are all ready for hard work and extreme dedication that is required for Piotrek to recover. However, we have to be patient, as there is a single matter that is  completely out of our control. The annual cost of rehabilitation is over 200 000 PLN. No matter how dedicated we are, it is a sum impossible for us to afford. That is why we ask for every bit of help there is.

My son is merely twenty years old. He has a whole life to live and now is the time to decide what this life will be like. The disease left Piotrek's health in ruin and it is up to all of us to rebuild what is seemingly gone. Even though a costly army of specialists and rehabilitants is required to achieve our goal, we strongly believe that, with a bit of help from you, Piotrek will soon stand up on his own. Please, give my son hope. Let him get back on his feet.
